About this ebook
Thirteen Stories is an online collaboration by eleven professional writers: Raiscara Avalon, SL Carroll, Joan Young, Alexandra Heep, Melissa Ingham, Devah Lucus, Cathy MacKenzie, Derek Odom, Milton Quagmire, Patti Winters and Rissa Watkins. All thirteen stories found in the book are individually written and fall into the suspense/horror genere, with the exception of one beautiful fantasy love story from Derek Odom.
The stories will make you wonder....how safe you are in your neighborhood...could this happen to me......thank goodness this didn't happen to me.....I wonder how that character is doing now? Perhaps more importantly, the chills going up your spine will have you wondering whether you really did lock the front door.......

Thirteen Stories was the brainchild of Melissa, an online copywriter and general transcriptionist. Together, with editor Cathy MacKenzie, they recruited another nine writers to create an ebook. They ended up with thirteen stories; twelve mystery/suspense/horror and one beautiful fantasy love story. All the writers in this ebook gave their time and stories for no pay. They are all professionals; and some have published works of fiction, and participated in other anthologies. The goal of the book was to raise funds for two other writers (friends) who have, through no fault of their own, fallen on hard times. All stories are unique. Some may leave you wondering...some may raise the hair on the back of your neck, and some may have you checking that your front door really is locked before going to bed.

STORIES
BY US
These thirteen stories have been written by eleven authors who came together in a common goal—to give assistance to two ladies we like and admire. All profits from the sale of this book will go to Lyn Lomasi and Lisa Mason.
Lyn Lomasi—
Lyn is the founder of Write W.A.V.E. Media, where she writes her world and manages a group of freelancers. In her spare time (wait, she has some?!), she enjoys yoga, playing with her kids and fur babies, fighting for just causes, spreading the magic of love, and watching horror, thriller, and sci-fi films. Oh and purple! There must be purple!

Lisa Mason—
Since 1998, Lisa Mason has been publishing content online and helping clients build websites, advertise and market their business, and build brand awareness. Along the way, she began working with social media, joining many popular platforms when they were still in beta and developing techniques for teaching both individuals and businesses how to get the most from their social media experience. She now works as a content marketing specialist and social media fitness coach at Social Media Satisfied. You can reach her or ask social media and content questions on Facebook or her blog.

Introduction
We are a group of Internet writers from across Canada and the USA. While our styles and every day writing careers vary, we have come together for a unique purpose. Having known each other for years on Facebook, celebrated our victories and commiserated our sorrows, we have now created a book for the benefit of two of our dear writer friends, Lyn and Lisa.
Due to a series of unfortunate circumstances, two of our hardest working friends have found themselves on the edge of homelessness. The writer’s life is not an easy one; long hours for often low pay and lengthy wait times in between paychecks. Often a feast or famine environment, one or two unforeseen crises can leave us reeling and wondering where our next meal may come from.
We hope you like our thirteen stories. The writers you find in between these pages have graciously donated their time and talents for no pay. All stories are different. We wrote them individually, yet all fall under the mystery/suspense and horror genre, with the exception of one beautiful fantasy/love story by our own Derek Odom.
While the stories vary in length, what doesn’t vary is our desire to help Lisa and Lyn. Most stories are around 1,000 words; some are longer, and two are flash fiction.
At the end of each story, you will see brief writer biographies and links to their websites. While I ask you to read their stories, I also ask you to consider the person behind them. If any of you are in need of a writer, or know someone who is, consider hiring one of these individuals. They are a great bunch and deserve much recognition.
We hope you enjoy our collaboration. On a personal note, I hope the stories intrigue you, send chills up your spine, and entertain you.
Lyn and Lisa, this is for you—from us.
