    The Blind Hears Well

Woe to thee, populous city! Behold kings armed by the Lord! . . But fire hath already burned thee to the ground! The Dragon hath appeared and hath brought terrible confusion, terror, and blood, mowing the lily with its tail, devouring the cock that hath cried twice and thrice on its dunghill. Leave thy dunghill, oh fool! Save thyself! Is it not thee whom the angel warneth, appealing diligently, Disaster! Disaster is impending! She’s delivering, ya hear? Frieda’s delivering…

    Finally… It’s about time…

That’s the point! She’s been screaming since midnight…

    I couldn’t sleep a wink till morning…

Oh, I have a feeling she won’t deliver!

    Ya think so?

What’s there to think? If everything was a’ right, she’d already be nursing…

’Tis true, ’tis true. She can’t deliver, the poor woman…

    "Even if she does,
