George, the Best of All! - Ingrid Lee

Before the Story Begins
George was a little guy made out of plastic. He had pink skin and black hair. He always wore a red jumpsuit and shiny red shoes.
On fireworks day, Katie and Mackenzie tied George to a dragon rocket. George’s parts flew apart. Only one leg and shoe landed back in Katie and Mackenzie’s yard.

Katie and Mackenzie shook their heads.

The grumpy old man next door was trimming his roses. Dang!
he complained. Those kids should keep their toys in the house. An old man like me shouldn’t have to listen to all that racket.
The little rider kept right on zooming. One pink plastic hand swung
