About this ebook

As a refugee from Eastern Europe, after World War II, I was lucky to have been able to make my home in Australia, at age 16.
After 30 years of work, 3 sons and completing a B.A. Dip Ed. at Adelaide University, my husband and I visited our old homelands, that were under Communist rule at the time. On returning to Australia, I felt crushed by what I had seen, heard and observed. I started "scribbling" to get the poison of anger out of my system. Sarcasm, humour, laughter and cynicism reduced the pain and made me start writing.
I began tho look at politics in dictatorships and that made it obligatory to do the same for democracies; and then other memories of life and books surfaced from oblivion .(life, sorrow, aging, fate, encounters, preserving history in writing is like giving immortality to the character and events)
There are those who say that certain things never happened, but books are experiences memory chips.
Thoughts' energy is stored in books and readers free the trapped voices inside them.

    Observation to Understanding. - Victoria Zabukovec

    Politics in Dictatorships:

    Recipe for making Tyrants

    Take one mediocre human

    with a chip on the shoulder.

    Add liberal lashings of

    jealousy, envy and selfishness.

    Stuff with authoritarian personality

    and bake in social oven

    at revolutionary temperature,

    with plenty of self justification.

    Reduce to reactionary temperature

    and baste with pomposity and self-righteousness.

    Remove from oven and spike

    with bigotry and intolerance.

    Garnish with frothy passion for power

    and contempt for the rights of others.

    Serve on a tray of inflated heroics,

    on a table of self-aggrandisement.

    Utopia

    In Utopia humour is disciplined.

    You laugh on cue, you write to a formula;

    Your art needs approval.

    But love the forbidden, and you cry alone.

    The Peace Poster.

    Peace to the world, or I'll smash you to get it;

    the clenched fist signalled, holding the olive branch.

    Mouth twisted with hate, snarling the message of peace;

    the fixed bayonet heralds good will to all men;

    the battle phalanx assures love and forgiveness;

    the Dove of Peace proclaims the peace——of the grave.

    People don't Matter

    The state was created for people, you think?

    For serving their needs, to govern and rule?

    But who is
