About this ebook
Jack Heckel puts a humorous twist on a classic tale in Happily Never After, the second part of a story started with Once Upon a Rhyme, which put together, begins the Charming Tales series.
Once upon, once again …
The dragon has been slain, but the problems have just begun for Prince Charming.
Disowned by his father, the King, and abandoned by his only friend, William Pickett, Charming must find a new path in life—but he's going to need a lot of help. His love, Liz, barely survived an assassination attempt; his former fling, Rapunzel, is in danger; and William is under an evil spell cast by Princess Gwendolyn.
The fate of Castle White hangs in the balance as Charming tries to find himself, while finding new allies along the way—including an odd number of dwarfs (or is it dwarves?) and a reformed beast. But he's running out of time to stop royally ruinous wedding bells from ringing …

Jack Heckel’s life is an open book. Actually, it’s the book you are in all hope holding right now (and if you are not holding it, he would like to tell you it can be purchased from any of your finest purveyors of the written word). He is the author of the Charming Tales series and The Dark Lord. Beyond that, Jack aspires to be either a witty, urbane, world traveler who lives on his vintage yacht, The Clever Double Entendre, or a geographically illiterate professor of literature who spends his non-writing time restoring an 18th century lighthouse off a remote part of the Vermont coastline. More than anything, Jack lives for his readers.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Re-read and realized I had read it in an anthology. I like Frost's world. Looking forward to a new book from her!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Great character and plot development. An additional book in the series but separate from Bones & Cat. Action packed love story.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I enjoyed this novella quite a lot. In truth, I wouldn't have minded a full length novel about Isabella and Chance. I'd like to see more Chance period. I still missed the combo of Cat and Bones in this book but Bones' short appearances were great.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Great character and plot development. An additional book in the series but separate from Bones & Cat. Action packed love story.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5This was a good story, complete on its own. Isa and her brother are in trouble with the mob and vampire Chance gets involved as a favor to Bones. You'll have to read the story to see how Bones got involved in the first place. I would have liked this story better if it would have had something to do with the Night Huntress series. Bones makes a short appearance, but other than that it really was an independent story from the rest of the series. This story took place during the four years Cat and Bones were apart (between books one and two), so it would have been fun to see what one of them was doing with their time.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5That was fun! I hope Chance and Isa make an appearance in the next books!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Although this isn't a Cat and Bones book, it does briefly include them in the story. Isabella, or Isa as she likes to be called is planning a wedding to a man she doesn't want to marry, but feels obligated to because of his dangerous personality. Chance, a good friend of Bones' comes to the rescue as a favor to Bones. Believe me when I say, if you like Bones, then you'll love Chance too, but no one can replace Bones in my heart. He's a steamy and sexy character, that will capture the heart of Isa just when she needs saving. This is yet another great read by Jeaniene Frost, that everyone must read. It's short and sweet, packed with sexy vampires and exciting action. This book is definitely worth a rating of 5/5.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I would've given it higher stars if they didn't fall in love in... like, two hours...
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Very nice, short novella. Had some humor and a lot of violence and bit of romance.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This is a short story about a woman named Isabella and her brother Frazier. Frazier becomes mixed up with the mob, and his involvement causes Isa to be forced to marry a man she has no desire to be with. Lucky for Isa her grandmother has an old friend named Bones; and Bones has a loyal friend named Chance who comes to save the day. I have had this book for awhile and I have put it off for a long time. I am such a huge fan of Cat and Bones love story that I wasn't sure how I would react to any of the other Jeaniene Frost love stories. I was concerned that I would read the novel, and spend every page wishing it were another adventure of Cat and Bones. I was pleasantly surprised to realize it isn't Bones and Cat that keep me coming back for more; instead it is the writing of Jeaniene Frost that captivates me. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story, Jeaniene Frost has a great way of making you fall in love with the characters she creates. The characters are always well structured, and the women in these stories never just sit around waiting to be saved, they are front row ready for action. Jeaniene Frost does such a marvelous job writing about vampires you would think she was one herself, I am keeping my fingers crossed she really might be. The details she uses to describe the hunger each vampire experiences and the scents that come over them put you right into the vampire’s skin. I highly recommend this book to adult readers, this is one of my favorites series, and anyone I talk to that picks up the books in The Night Huntress series, and The Night Huntress world becomes instantly addicted.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This novella is set in the Night Huntress world. Isabella is engaged against her will to a mobster. The mobster is holding her brother prisoner to ensure her cooperation. Her grandmother seeks the help of Chance, a vampire with a heart of gold, to free her from this arrangement. The story is pretty good and we learn some more about the way the Night Huntress world works. Chance is not my favorite vamp that I have met in this world, but I would not kick him out of bed.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5If you like the Night Huntress series by Jeaniene Frost (or even if you've never read one of her books), you will love this short story.Chance is asked by Bones to help out a dear friend of his from his past. Chance has to stop a bribe-induced wedding, and save the reluctant bride's brother from mobsters. If it's been a while since you've read the Night Huntress series, you might have to think a minute or two to remember who Chance was. But, honestly, once you start reading this story, it doesn't matter. You will love Chance anyway!
