This is a work of fiction. The author is writing a fictional murder mystery using some of the true events that have been shared with him about a family’s experience with senior abuse. Names, characters and incidents depicted in this book are from the author’s imagination. The only exceptions are some real places such as: Champaign, Danville, Owens Funeral Home, The Blind Pig. Meijers, The Ribeye, State St., Randolph St., Prospect Ave., William St. and Charles St. The author’s intent is not to use any real names in his book, just tell their story. The people portrayed in this story are mostly real people who the author knows, some he has made up. The author wants the readers to relate to these victims of circumstances or maybe help someone you may know deal with this in their own family. A story of Senior Abuse!

    DEDICATION ♥

I dedicate this book to all of those in my life who I feel suffered from these feelings through their lives. I pray that they at least felt loved by those of us that were around them. May God Grant them a Peace that only can come from Him!

    FORWARD ♦

This book is a compilation of events that have taken place within a family I know mostly pertaining to the parents. It talks about different aspects of loneliness, depression, anxiety, being different and all of the other terms that basically describe the same thing. I reflect how I believe the Mother must have felt throughout her life and the inner pains she lived with most of her life.

It also speaks of the time that changed their lives so drastically that they would never be the same again. Senior abuse that affected all of them in different ways but affect them it did. It destroyed relationships and disrupted lives. Trust lost that never should have been questioned. Will they ever be able to forget? Can they ever forgive those involved?

No, I’m not a psychologist but I have studied it. The story I write I will list as a fiction. Even though the accounts given are from some true circumstances, some of the info will also be made up as a result of speculation and not factual knowledge of what took place minute by minute. Dialogue also will not be the word for word actual dialogue but will give you the idea of what was said. This might be considered entertaining for some if it weren’t so sad as a real story. I decided to share this so you might be alerted to those around you who might suffer from this unfortunate reality in their life. The reason for writing it as a fiction murder mystery is to make it entertaining for those of you who like murder mysteries. The anger that was caused from the events most certainly could have led to such a horrible outcome…thank God it didn’t actually take place for real.

It is my hope also that I can open your eyes to someone’s struggles or simply to let you know you aren’t alone facing these trials. The family involved was affect in such ways that it was my desire not to offend any of them or embarrass them by telling their story. That is another reason for writing this as a fictional murder mystery. For those of you who like the murder stories – enjoy. For you others please open your eyes to these types of unfortunate circumstances within your own family or families you know…senior abuse is definitely out there!

I am going to write this story from the view point of myself being one of the main characters in the story.

    ~ PRELUDE ~

    Frustration in a Nursing Home

Loneliness. Depression. Desperation. Anxiety. In whatever form those feelings come we all tend to feel them sometime in our lives. Mine started when I was a little girl and got worse as I got older. My mother was very loving as a mother could be in that time. I grew up through the Depression and World War II both of which affected our lives back then. My father on the other hand was a very stern man and it seemed as though he liked to discipline us kids, mostly aimed at me for some reason. He was a drunk and got mean when he came home in that condition. My father made me feel as though I had no worth…his anger grew. He told me on more than one occasion that I would never amount to anything, thus the feelings of anxiety and doubt about myself began.

Looking back, he was also a cruel man and beat on us kids repeatedly. Most of it again seemed to come my way. Now my younger sister could do no wrong and if he had any love in him at all she received it. Even though I tried to do what my father expected of me, it was as though he just truly hated me. I developed a hatred for him that stayed with me forever, even into my adult life. My mother eventually divorced him but it came too late, he had already molded a part of my life that I was never able to recover from. I found out much later in my life that I was born at a time when my father wasn’t working, he had lost his job. He wanted my Mother to abort me but she refused. It is now believed this created his feelings of hatred for me after my birth. I can understand it some now…too late for me!

Even though I did great in school with my studies and made many friends, I still felt a bit like an outcast. We were poor as many were at that time but we had even less, coming now from a broken home. Mom did her best for us kids and taught us the important things of life such as values, love and respect. She couldn’t teach me though how to deal with what I was feeling. Coming from a large family living in the backwoods of Kentucky, she had very little schooling of her own. She got by and made a living to support us kids and I always respected my mother for that. She too had sternness about her but it was different than my fathers’ in that she was not mean to me, just demanding in her own way.

As the years have rolled by my self-esteem just worsened as my weight grew. Those around us always found ways to joke and kid with me about my weight but I never found it funny. It hurt inside, why didn’t they understand how much pain I was in? Their nicknames such as tubby, they only angered me. Maybe they knew that and teased me on purpose. I didn’t want to be heavy but I didn’t know how
