Introduction
Dear Reader,
When this book finds you, you will be interested who the author is and whether this man talking about success has been successful in his life. You might think, perhaps the author is an ordinary man that likes to give advice. When you read a book on success, you naturally expect the author to have had great accomplishments and experience in achieving success: in short, you want him to be competent in what he writes.
My answer to your quest is as follows: success is a path and a long path. I believe I am on the right path. Advice delivered in this book has totally changed my life. I have written only about what I felt and experienced and what made me more confident and happy, also what helped me enjoy every single day in my life and perceive every single day as a great gift bestowed on me.
How Everything Started
Several years ago I started studying Success. I read books on success, studied the life stories of successful people, and participated in workshops. In the past it never occurred to me why our compatriot Kirk Kerkorian is a successful businessman and a billionaire, while me and most people around me are not. This question came to my mind so unexpectedly that I even wondered how it did not occur to me earlier. The answer seemed to be clear, the given person did successful business deals and reached achievements. But… why am I not able to conduct successful business deals? Why do I not have any business at the time this question rose in my head? If the secret is in business, then why our other compatriot Charles Aznavour, became one of the most successful people in the world without any business? What is the secret? Talent? Then why is it that many talented people do not achieve any success in their life? It means, the reason is very deep and it is not easy to understand. But I wanted to understand. I started my research. Later, it became the beginning of my new life.
The Journey Ahead
Studying life stories of successful people has always had a profound influence on me. I remember reading for days in a run Think and Grow Rich
, the masterpiece of Napoleon Hill, one of the prominent professionals in the world that studied secrets of becoming successful. Each word in the book impacted me extremely deeply, as if the changes were happening in me in the process of reading the book. Napoleon Hill had studied the lives of the most prominent and successful people of his time, has had meetings with many of them and has summarized the results in a book.
The deeper I delved into the topic, the better I understood that we are not doing the right things that might make our lives happy. We do not concentrate on what is really important, instead, we draw imaginary boundaries around us and live inside them. I realized that the life I lived was not what I wanted it to be. Never ever in the past had I thought how I lived, and whether it was what I needed and why I lived the way I lived. Eventually, it was necessary to understand what I wanted in this life.
Second Breath
In the life of each person there is a breakthrough moment after which the whole life changes. I call this moment the second breath. To comprehend what the second breath is, let’s imagine life to be a big swimming pool and everyone is swimming in the pool. Water relaxes you, you feel lightness in water, and you are calm. Everyone swims in water, each his or her direction, some in groups, while others alone, however, everyone is in the water and everyone is swimming. Suddenly, some people do not want to swim like everyone else, on the same level. They want to go deeper and deeper, they want to reveal the secrets of water, they want to plunge where no one has ever been. However, it is not easy to submerge deep, where one might drown, so some of them swim back half way. Nevertheless, there are people that continue to immerse, and when they are really deep, the second breath opens unexpectedly. Not everyone is familiar with the second breath. Those that have experienced the second breath say that there is a moment when you think you are dying, but then you feel tranquility and you are able to breathe. The person changes after experiencing the second breath. He starts valuing life more, becomes strong and self confident. This is true as well for life. We live calmly swimming in the waters of life, but there is a moment when you decide to plunge deeper. It is then that you either experience the second breath or you sink.
Everything changes in one’s life after the second breath. Usually, it occurs when you think you are drowning. One might have the second breath when meeting a very important person, someone else might have the second breath when a great idea comes to his mind, while another will experience it during a sudden turn in his life. In any case, if we just keep waiting and do nothing, we will never experience the second breath and will continue floating in the waters of life. If we are thinking intentionally in that direction, enhance ourselves, keep plunging deeper and keep training our breathing, we will open our second breath and it will change our life radically.
The second breath might have many different names, such as breakthrough, eye opening, rebirth, etc. This breakthrough happened in my life when I started studying the life of successful people. At the beginning, it was like studying mathematics, when you just study and there are no feelings. After some time, it became an ‘obsession’ and I am very glad that I became "obsessed’.
Believe in Yourself
One’s success starts when you start believing in yourself. I know it from my own experience. I had never dreamt in the past that I might have my own company, conduct business or write a book. But when I had confidence in myself, everything changed and you have the proof in your hands now.
I want everyone to experience it. I want an ordinary man that lives around us and is next to us and is now reading these lines, to believe that he can become what he is even afraid to think about or perhaps is thinking that it is beyond his capacity. I want an ordinary piano player to believe that one day he can be Mozart, an artist that has no job now to believe that one day he will become Pablo Picasso, a beginning writer who is read only by his relatives to believe that one day he will become Jules Verne, a young physiologist to believe that one day he will be Freud and an ordinary programmer to believe that he will design a Facebook and will be Mark Zuckerberg.
There are thousands of Mozarts, Picassos, Jules Vernes and Zuckerbergs living amongst us. They do not have even the slightest notion of the fate awaiting them and how high they can fly. They will never know it if they do not believe in themselves. When one starts to believe in oneself, opportunities hidden in him start unveiling. And then, one starts looking for ways and solutions, otherwise he will not look for anything and will simply wait Let happen what should happen
. In that case it is more likely that nothing will happen.
You should have confidence in yourself even in the slightest details. Here is an example, if you are learning to drive a car, right from the start you should believe that it will be easy for you to do it. Or if you are taking an exam, right from the start you should believe that you are clever enough to get the highest possible grades. Who else if not you? You should believe that your capacity is big enough to get any desired results. Who else if not you?
I believe in myself but it does not help me,
– you might think. No! It means something is not right, it means you still have doubts. I have met very rare people that have confidence in their own capacity. If you believe in yourself, you should do it fully, without the slightest doubt. There should not be ifs…
, buts…
, and other expressions of distrust. One but
already means that you are not sure in yourself and there is work to be done. Believe in yourself and the whole world will trust you.
Never Say I Cannot
I get angry when someone says You can’t
. What does it mean I can’t?
Perhaps I can’t at this moment, but if I work and aspire, I certainly can. If there is at least one person in this world that can, it means I can too. Even if there is no person in the whole world that can, I still can, because each person is unique. When I am told I can’t, it gives me additional strength, I challenge myself to cross the boundaries. The more boundaries you cross, the stronger and more experienced you become and the easier you take actions for desired results.
Never say I can’t
. These are not only words. It is an instruction to your brain that the given issue is beyond your capacity. Your brain listens and obeys you. When you tell your brain I can’t
it responds to you Sure, you can’t
.
Try everything that crosses your mind, even if it seems impossible. Believe in your strengths and never think that there is anything that you cannot do. When I analyze my achievements in recent years, what is very ordinary to me now, seemed to be unattainable several years ago, It is in the past now, I overcame it. It gives me so much strength, it is so deeply rooted in my brain that I can say with certainty There is nothing that you cannot do. Simply, be confident
.
Your Destiny is in Your Hands
I do not believe in fate. I do not believe that one’s life is predetermined. I have scrutinized myself numerous times in the mirror, I have not seen anything written on my forehead. When I look back into my past, I can see that all the good and bad days in my life, successes and failures, happiness and sadness was solely due to me, due to my decisions, actions, my character and my habits and attitudes. Now, more than ever I realize that there is no fate and that everything is in your hands. How can Man’s fate be pre-determined? In that case why do we have our brains, imaginations and aspirations? I have no idea who invented fate, however I know that people who believe in fate, limit their own opportunities.
You see someone sitting sad and depressed. You ask what has happened. He tells you about his problems and concludes This is my fate
. No, it is not your fate. It is something temporary that we all go through. That
