      Chapter 1

      That’s it! the witch said putting the last touches to the portal she’d been working on.

      You think it’s going to work? SparkleGirl asked looking it over.

      It better, for all our sakes. That’s my biggest regret, you know that. Letting thoughts of my daughter cloud my judgment put us all at risk. What was I thinking?

      I don’t know. But you’re doing this, which has to mean something?

      SparkleGirl watched as the witch dismissed the comment with a wave of her hand and got back to her work. Then stopping she waited until the shock wave of the latest explosion disappeared before continuing. That one was closer, they’re not far away now. They know we’re here. Are you ready? Got everything you need?

      Ready as I’ll ever be, SparkleGirl said putting away her new sword, bow and daggers.

      Remember those arrow tips are coated with the same stuff as the sword. One shot is enough to bring down any player. Anything bigger might take two, but don’t get carried away. It took me long enough to create those. OK that’s it! the witch said getting up off her knees and dusting herself down. Once you step on that pressure plate there, you’ll only have five seconds before this place is blown to smithereens. So you better be long gone before that.

      Yeah I know, we talked about all this before, SparkleGirl said impatient to get going.

      You’ll also need this, the witch said handing over a small device. It’s not much, but it’s all I can give you. Once you get across switch it on, it’ll lead you to Herobrine.

      How does it work?

      Don’t ask, you wouldn’t understand.

      OK.

      There’s another thing you should know, this is a one way trip. Once you’ve done everything you need to do, you’ll need to take this, she said handing over a small red pill. There can’t be two of you in Minecraft for longer than need be. Even now I don’t know what mess this little experiment of ours is going to make.

      OK, do the job and don’t come back, SparkleGirl said putting away the red pill in her inventory.

      You also know that…

      I know, I know. But I’ll be able to control it better this time!

      You better, because if you don’t, this is going to be a total waste of time. If there was any other way of getting around it I’d do it, but we know your body wouldn’t stand up to the pressure.

      At least this time I’m doing it of my own free will….

      SparkleGirl paused and looked up as dust started to fall from the ceiling above them.
