About this ebook
This is about a bright, young and intelligent young lady, who had the whole world in her hands. Anna had a plan for when she graduated from high school. She would be attending a college far away, the sooner the better. Anna was determined. In fact she was very independent. She had a great head on her shoulders and was always helping others. Anna always thought of herself last. She wanted to become a school counselor. This was her calling.
This is a story that Anna, herself, would have wanted to tell. This is a story that will take away the mind of the innocent and hopefully make others aware of all the affairs that people have experienced - a story that might be better off not telling. But I feel that it should be told, not all of the embarrassing moments that a young mother might have chosen to deal with while taking care of her own affairs, not thinking everything out but just letting someone else take advantage of her body, her mind and her spirit in a family that has already lost so much. But, if no one has a voice then no one will be able to speak out about these issues. No one will know of some of the dangers that are out there when dealing with any child, even if that child is a young adult or an older child wrapped in a world of drugs, alcohol, sex, friends, and gangs all rolled up into one, as well as an unplanned pregnancy, we cannot forget the love of money.

I was born in Willcox, Arizona on October 17, 1963 to Howard and Linda Wetzel. My Aunt Larue Lane Wetzel gave me inspiration to pursue my dreams. I attended college in New Mexico, studying nursing for three years and promptly changed my mind and took a course to become a certified Nursing Assistant and fell in love with that job. I worked on the Oncology floor for over ten years. My life is full of adventures and the pleasure of realizing, whatever I put my mind to, I can accomplish. My grandson is the inspiration for my first book and also helped complete this book. He forever remains a pleasure to my heart.

Dedication
I dedicate this book to you, and everyone in the world. My desire is for everyone to think twice about what you do and say during your life and live it in such a way as to not have any regrets when you pass from this world to the next. Do your absolute best to show your appreciation to others who do things for you, and if things don’t go the way you think they should, console those who feel they are to blame. Essentially, love your neighbor as you want to be loved.
Author’s Note
This is a story that I have always wanted to tell but never dreamed that it would hit so close to so many of my family and friends’ lives, things that they have had to deal with, such as being single mothers and all the sacrifices a mother is willing to do just so they can raise their children.
I have tried so many times to put this story into words, but it has been very difficult even to discuss such issues of peoples’ lives, affairs that we know might create an unbearable heartache to some, or even rumors we have heard that are not true.
This is a story that Anna, herself, would have wanted to tell. This is a story that will take away the mind of the innocent and hopefully make others aware of all the sins that people have experienced - a story that might be better off not telling. No one will know of some of the dangers that are out there when dealing with any child, even if that child is a young adult or an older child wrapped in a world of drugs, alcohol, sex, friends, and gangs all rolled up into one, as well as an unplanned pregnancy. We cannot forget the greed for money.
This is about a bright, young and intelligent young lady, who had the whole world in her hands. Anna was also a terrific basketball player. She was the highest scorer that the team had had in years. She was a great team player. Anna was a straight A student. She always was respectful and very shy, but willing to help anyone she could. She had a terrific smile and green eyes that would slice right through you when she looked at you. Although some people claimed that her eyes were replicas of a deep colored gem. That was not so. They were as real as could be, a true green-eyed girl. Anna had long flowing red hair, which she hated to wear in any type of a style. She loved it straight down to her waist. She would put it into a ponytail only when she was playing basketball. Anna would let her hair flow in the wind. This was just a part of her personality, simple and strong.
Anna had a plan for when she graduated from high school. She would be attending a college far away, the sooner the better. She was already looking into the different types of Pell grants that were available, as well as all of the scholarships. Some you had to pay back, others were free as long as you had high grades. She would be moving far away from the boring little town that she had grown up in, where everyone knew everyone. In fact, the town’s name should have been known as Rumor Ville because gossip was an all day affair. Anna herself thought the town was dead and dreary and that there was no future there for her.
Anna was determined. In fact, she was very independent. That is how she was, on her own making her own choices. Her father raised her to not be depending on anyone for anything that she was not able to do for herself. She was in the Big Sister program helping other less fortunate children with their homework and encouraging them to always do better in whatever career choice they wanted out of life. For several years this was her passion, helping others in her community. She also volunteered as an after school tutor.
She had a great head on her shoulders and was always helping others. Anna always thought of herself last. She wanted to become a school counselor. This was her calling. She never accepted a penny from any of the parents. She would just tell them, Thanks, but you keep the money.
Chapter One
On May 23, 2002, Anna had a special surprise for her father. She had become class valedictorian and the top of the class. That in itself was a shock to her father, Oscar. Anna was the first in a long line of the family gene pool to even make it to graduation. Even to accomplish this was something to really celebrate. After her tear jerking speech, relief fell upon Oscar and Debbie, Anna’s step-mother. They were shocked and numb at the same time. There was nothing that Oscar would not do for his little girl. He had bought her a Mustang car just for graduation. He was so proud of her, not even knowing that two days ago Anna had received an acceptance letter from one of the top Western colleges saying that she was accepted with a full basketball scholarship. She did not tell a soul that she would play for an all women’s basketball team until after her graduation party with just a few family and friends over, and hamburgers on the grill, her favorite kind of gathering.
Anna told everyone that she had a special announcement to make. She would be moving first thing in the morning. She had a full scholarship, all tuition paid acceptance letter for a college over six hundred miles away. Her dream of playing on an all women’s basketball team was finally happening. She had already decided that it was now or never, and as Oscar looked into her big green eyes and at her long dark red hair, and all of her many freckles, he realized that she was a pretty girl and she was also tall. He just melted like butter and said, Okay, first thing in the morning then. That is what we will do.
They ended the gathering at nine-thirty so that Oscar and Debbie could get some rest. They still had to rent a U-haul. Anna had already packed up all of her belongings that she would take with her: bed, dresser, and even some of her mother Samantha’s things. She would also take her big standing mirror that was very much a unique Victorian style and even Samantha’s old Cleopatra couch that was just perfect for her new place. She took all of her mother’s dishes, so the U-haul was really crammed with a lot of Anna’s personal belongings.
When Anna was leaving anywhere she would always say, Later,
never a hug or a kiss. This was a part of her
