The Mastercreeper Plan #3
Chapter OneIt took a while for Steve’s vision to clear, as his head was pounding so much it felt like someone had set up a tiny funfair inside it. He bent over, trying not to throw up.
After a while, the dizziness and nausea resided and he straightened up and looked around, where was he? It certainly wasn’t Earth, the pinkish sands and yellow sky told him that, but, unless a color-blind programmer had severely overhauled the Minecraft graphics, he wasn’t there either. At least I’ve survived, he told himself reassuringly.
Steve wondered if this was some side-effect of the bomb, or whether the creeper had placed him in this gaudy new world to keep him from foiling its destructive plans. Would he be able to save the world before the creeper destroyed it? That was something he couldn’t do anything about at present. First he would have to find his way out of Day-Glo land, as he’d begun to think of it, and before that, he’d need something to drink.
Steve got up, the dry air of the desert filling his lungs. It was harsh here, and Steve could feel his brow start to sweat. The sun, seemingly bigger than the one on earth, was high up in the sky. He didn’t know how hot it was going to get. He also didn’t know how dangerous this place would be in the dark, and he had no intention of finding out; instead, he wanted to figure out a way back.
A kilometer of so the east, a smallish river, its banks covered in strange rushes, wound its way through the neon desert, its water a vivid blue. Strange bright pink birds dived into the water, then out again, with impossibly shiny silver fish in their mouths. Steve ran to the bank and plunged his head into the water. It was cool and, despite its strange appearance, tasted no different from the water on earth. His thirst slaked for the moment, he started to walk along the riverbank, figuring where there’s water, there was bound to be civilization, eventually.
After what seemed to be hours, Steve found a tiny town, the buildings as rounded as the ones in Minecraft were blocky. The villagers though human, looked quite different from any he had seen before. Immensely tall, and incredibly
