About this ebook
Anthony Carfano, aka Little Augie Pisano, died on the streets of Astoria Heights, Queens on September 26, 1959. He was accompanied by Janice Drake, a former Miss New Jersey, who was married to comedian Allan Drake. Some four years later the murders remained unsolved. Little Augie had grown up with Al Capone in New York and later was a well known gangster in Brooklyn. The year before his death Carfano was instrumental in a major facelift/improvement that was given to Yonkers Raceway. A subsidiary company owned by the mobster and his brother, August, was awarded the Yonkers' remodeling job in early 1958. Additional improvements, i.e. plastering jobs, etc., were awarded to other Mafia figures, most of them affiliated with the Genovese crime family like Little Augie Pisano.

- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5I have no read this. However on Page One, free review, there are two major errors, so I'm picking the rest of the story is probably not worth bothering with. The author should check date and location of shooting.

Anthony Little Augie Pisano Carfano (born November 19, 1895) was shot to death in his sleek black Cadillac in Jackson Heights, Queens on Friday night, September 26, 1959. Carfano, 62, was described as a pudgy former henchman who had worked for Al Capone. He was also a long time close associate of gangster Frank Costello.
Also murdered was Janice Drake (1927-1959), 32, the married wife of comedian Allan Drake. Carfano and Janice were shot from the rear of Carfano’s stylish 1959 Cadillac. The auto was moving at the time the couple were slain. It had veered into a curb approximately one half mile from LaGuardia Airport. The car was headed south on 94th Street, a main traffic artery near 24th Avenue.

Carfano was shot twice in the back of his head and one time in his left cheek. Janice Drake, the mother of a 13-year old son, Michael, was shot in the back of her neck and in the right temple. As Janice Hansen she won a Pacific Palisades, New Jersey beauty contest in 1943. She became Miss New Jersey in 1944.
