    To read music means to look at written or printed musical notes and be able to play those notes on an musical instrument or sing them.

    The meaning of the term may also include the interpretation of all of the symbols of musical notation and the understanding of the composer's intentions. Nevertheless, this text will only concern itself with the ability to look at musical notes and play them instantly. To be sure, this text is designed to teach you the easiest, fastest and best way to look at music and perform the music on sight with little or no preparation. This is also known as sight-reading.

    In order to read words in language you must be able to recognize words and understand what they mean. In like manner, when reading music you must be able look at a notes and know their names ( which tells you what note to play) and must also know what kind of note it is (which tells you how many beats it gets).
