BUT DAD NEVER LISTENED TO DANNY BROWN
What a fantastic creation this book is. A young man who is starting to realize that his earlier years that were spent as a some times troubled some times care youth are over. It is time to make more mature decisions. A great example of today's social urban life styles. I did not want this short story to end. I wanted it to continue to explore this youth's new realizations and life in his new future.
4/5 stars - rucrazy
A very interesting read, well written. It sounds like a teaser for a novel; I would have liked it to continue through life...he gets a job, marries, lives his life, etc. Maybe there is more to come?

Chapter Six
*The following events took place a few years back. Possibly even longer. Without a strong grasp of time, it is hard to tell. Probably 10 years. However long ago it was, do know that Max just got his driver’s license after memorizing the handbook and passing the test very quickly.
The school bells rang as Allison left the classroom and headed towards the blacktop where the boys would play basketball, the girls would play handball and the snacks were dished out aplenty. Off in the distance was the school’s church and the adjacent nunnery where they spent their Friday mornings listening to a pastor speak the word of God. Passing the barred gates that separated the classrooms from the blacktop, Allison didn’t feel much like playing anybody’s game. As she watched a boy do an overhand shot into the basket followed by some cheers, she tried to get into it. She sat there eating Gushers. The explosion of flavor in her mouth was enough to satisfy her condition. She was in the background of a very loud sea of screaming children in uniforms. Sighing, she popped in a blue Gusher and rolled her eyes in ecstasy.
Around the corner came Virginia. She sat in her plaid jumper staring at the ground while kicking her feet
