About this ebook

Jude has spent the whole twenty one years of his life running. From what, he wasn't quite sure. His mother tried to keep him safe; a low profile, a constant move on the horizon, a week's pay always stashed away. She tried to instill in him that he was special somehow. He never felt different. He was so completely normal and vanilla that he wondered if it had all been in her head. But then she was murdered and all he saw was a running silhouette of a man as his mother said three final words to him. Three words that changed his whole being.
Never stop running...
Now he's semi-settled into a big town. The college is huge and easy to blend into. It's been three months since he had to move because 'Biloxi', as he calls the man who killed his mother, found him once more.
Then Marley, an eighteen year old girl who is as infuriating as she is blissfully ignorant of her gorgeousness, smashes into his car with hers. Then smashes into his life as he realizes that whatever it is he has that Biloxi wants, she has it, too. And now, they're after them both.

Pardon me a minute while I gush all over this review. Shelly Crane is one of my most fave authors, so I never hesitate to purchase her books as soon as it's been released. Crane is only one of two authors who evokes that kind of dedication from me. I was continually stalking Smash Into You, waiting for it's release and some how I missed it's release date by four days, I couldn't even look myself in the mirror. LOL. Anyway, it was the day before my B'day so I thought it would be a nice gift to myself to just relax with something romantic and sweet. Crane is certainly a romantic and I didn't expect anything less from this book. It did not disappoint. Okay, okay, enough gushing, (probably not), on with the review.

It's probably too cliche to say that Smash Into You was not what I expected but it's true. I didn't expect the suspense, mystery, and the action. Never read anything quite like this from Crane before. Oh for sure it had the expected intense romance, and lets not forget the swoon, oh the swoon. I've read a few excerpts that made it seem like it would just be about a boy and a girl finding love but I did not predict such a thrillingly, mysterious and heartwarming ride. It was a boy and a girl trying to heal their emotional scars, finding their place in the world, making things right and of course falling in love.

Jude at first comes across as the typical player but there is more to him than meets the eye. He hates being a heart breaker so he steers clear of girls who's heart he knows he could completely ruin; especially since he doesn't stay in one place for very long. He lives his life on the run and can't afford to get too close to anyone, else they suffer the same fate. What I like about Jude is even the girls who throw themselves at him he finds it in himself to show them some kind of respect. Being involved with them is more about punishing himself, he cannot afford to fall in love, he doesn't deserve it. I love that Crane's heroes are always gentlemanly, and romantic as hell, no matter how badass they may be. Jude is no different, he was very protective and respectful towards Marley.

Marley surprised me, the first few scenes with her did not prepare me for how much of a tough chick she would turn out to be. All the adversities that she and Jude faced did not turn her into a whimpering coward. Marley went with the flow, she adjusted to the moment quickly with sincerity and grit. Marley is as damaged as Jude, but she doesn't wear it on her sleeve. She like him as avoided getting attached but she's not as jaded as Jude, as she keeps referring to him as. Again another strong character, Crane's female characters aren't always caught up with their insecurities, and they tend to be more tenacious and resilient.

Another aspect of Crane's books that I love is how these couples seem to have some kind of destiny type of connection. I'm always a sucker for stuff like that, you know the soul mate, it was destiny for us to meet kind of thing? I can't help it, it's so swoony. That part of the story was very surprising.

Smash Into You was thrilling, and as sweet as can be. As you might have read from the synopsis, Jude is on the run from some guy that keeps chasing him from town to town, city to city. Well, this is his journey to finding out why this guy, 'Biloxi' wants him dead and how can he fix it so that he can have the life his mother wanted for him. Along the way he ran into Marley and for the first time he wants more for himself. But he doesn't want her to live the life he's been living. Can he make things right and have the girl of his dreams? Can he and this intriguing girl heal each other's wounds? And can they have their HEA? You'll just have to read it to find out.

I am a huge fan of Shelly Crane. All in all this was a really good book. But it left me wanting more in the end. But I love readying a story to its end, I guess its one of the reading flaws that I have. I want to know more about what happens later

I am a big fan of Shelly Crane and I love her books. She is most well known for her Significance Series, which is currently in the process of filming for a movie by the way - so exciting. She has written several paranormal series, and has also delved into the contemporary with her Wide Awake Series. Her latest release, Smash Into You, is a new adult contemporary romance that also feels like a romantic suspense/thriller, and it is told from Jude's point of view, which I absolutely love. Jude has been on the run most of his life, staying one step ahead of the man he calls Biloxi, who has been hunting him down since he murdered his mother when he was 10 years old. He has lived a life on the run, moving from town to town, never forming relationships, because that just wasn't in the cards for him. That is until he meets Marley, who literally smashes into his car. Marley has lead a really hard life. She has been in the foster system since she was 3 years old, and her experience was far from good. Now at 18, she is on her own, and her living situation is still far from being ideal. When circumstances throw these two together, they find that they have far more in common that they knew. Both are scarred emotionally, physically, and mentally from circumstances beyond their control, and both have endured far more than anyone, especially at their age, should ever have to.As the evil from Jude's past threatens to catch up to him, he and Marley realize that they have far more in common that they ever thought possible, and maybe they were meant to find one other. I really loved both Jude and Marley. I just wanted to hug them both because I felt so bad for them and all they had to deal with because of the circumstances that life had thrown at them. Jude started out being a real jerk to her, but that was his coping mechanism and his way of protecting her, only Marley was not like any other girl he had ever known, and he couldn't help falling for her. Underneath it all, he was a really great guy who was fiercely loyal and fiercely protective. I really admired the fact that though they had to do certain shady things to survive, they both had a really strong work ethic and weren't afraid of hard work, and preferred to earn their keep rather than steal it. Their relationship is far from conventional, and I loved watching them both become honest with themselves and with each other as they chose to reveal parts of themselves they had never allowed anyone else to see. Then of course, there is the romantic element, which Shelly Crane always writes so well. Danger threatens them on every side, closing in on them until they decide it's time to look it in the face. The answers they find when they do are beyond anything they could have imagined, and are so much bigger than just the two of them, and the conspiracy behind what is going on is mind boggling. There are twists and turns that take place that you never expect as the story progresses. The plot is original and creative, and I said above, has the romantic suspense/thriller aspect to it that I found really made the story exciting. Is everything that happens to them realistic? No, but then again, I think it is important to keep in mind that this is fiction, and with fiction, it doesn't have to be. In fact, I think that the conspiracy and mystery made the story that much more thrilling.Overall, I loved Smash Into You and Shelly Crane has written another wonderful novel that is different than any of her other books, yet still has her classic trademark of an awesome love story, and just continues to reveal what a talented lady she really is.Quotes from Smash Into You:“You took my soul and wiped all the dirt away, sweetheart. You cured me of all that ached.” “I lowered onto the sweetest mouth I'd ever tasted and I never wanted to taste another for, God, thank you, she was the only thing that kept me from falling over the edge to the end of me.”“You don't deserve to be taken in a rush, you deserve to be worshiped.” “She kissed back, once again content to let me take her for a ride wherever I was going. "What a beautiful mess we're in," I murmured.” “Battle scars just remind us that we survived.” “She kissed back, once again content to let me take her for a ride wherever I was going. "What a beautiful mess we're in," I murmured.”
