    Standard Dachshunds are not in a separate classification - the difference is in their size. The miniature Dachshunds generally weigh between 8-11 pounds. If a Dachshund is over 12 months of age and weighs in over 11 pounds, it is classified as a standard. However, some rescue groups will call Dachshunds weighing between 11-18 pounds tweenies.
