    The purpose of this book is to aid new Christians in establishing a firm foundation in their lives to start them on the never ending path of changing through Christ Jesus our Lord.

    Many new Christians and people who have been Christians for years do not have the understanding that God wants them to continually change. Growing things change and changing things grow. God wants all of us to be constantly changing, growing and maturing in who we are through Christ Jesus.

    These Chapters will provide practical Biblical teachings on different areas Christians must focus on to mature in the Lord. These Chapters are not intended to be condemning, but, should provide you with a guide to how your life should be structured. It is also, only the beginning. The more you change and mature in the Lord, the more you will need to know. Always seek to learn more about God through constant study and prayer.

He has served as the pastor of Southwind Christian Center from 1997 till 2012 and Lionheart Christian Church from 2012 till present. He serves as President of Lionheart Ministries and Lionheart Christian Academy.Richard has been a Project Engineering Manager in the Nuclear Power Industry for over 30 years. Richard has taught in both the industrial settings and at the college level. Richard has degrees in Mechanical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering and Human Factors Engineering. He is a Navy Veteran.Richard has been married to Sheila Sparks since 1979. Sheila is the founder of Lionheart Christian Academy. The Sparks have one daughter Telitha and one granddaughter Ella.

      Christian Basic Training

      The purpose of this book is to aid new Christians in establishing a firm foundation in their lives to start them on the never ending path of changing through Christ Jesus our Lord.

      These Chapters will provide practical Biblical teachings on different areas Christians must focus on to mature in the Lord. These Chapters are not intended to be condemning, but, should provide you with a guide to how your life should be structured. It is also, only the beginning. The more you change and mature in the Lord, the more you will need to know. Always seek to learn more about God through constant study and prayer.

      It is my prayer, that this book will clear up some of the misconceptions most new Christians have concerning how God wants to perfect us. God does want us to change and become perfect like his Son, Jesus, but, God never intended for it to be so confusing or so burdensome.

      Chapter 1 – Prayer

      Now that you have been saved, what do you do? Do you run out and buy seven different Bibles, twenty five books, and every Christian tape you can find? NO!

      The first step after becoming a Christian is to pray and seek the Lord. Through prayer the Holy Spirit can start to direct your thoughts so you will understand what to do next. In later Chapters we will discuss studying God's Word and becoming a member of a church. All of those things are important, but, prayer is your communication line with the Lord.
