- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5In my opinion this is a great book to share with students from grade K-3 because of three reasons. The first reason is because of the questions used throughout the story. I like the idea of asking these questions then having students predict what they think the animal is on the next page. In addition the words used can help aid them in discovering the setting of the animal. Second, I enjoyed the use of a wide range of animals in which some were unfamiliar to myself. The Crab Spider is one that I have not seen before in my life but the way the description and name relate to one another helped me to understand what I would look for in this animal. Lastly, I enjoyed how some of the animals were familiar to the reader. Such animals as a baby deer, Fawn, and a Tree Frog are animals students can readily relate to because of Zoo field trips. This makes the guessing more fun as you read along. The big idea of this book is to inform the reader of the many animals who blend into their surroundings to survive.
