I’ve done years of private studies on female sexual function…

I knew Hux was completely absorbed in the science perspective of this conversation because his eyes darkened with a passion that I now knew was only stirred by his work. Well, I was not to be deterred. I pushed my front against his back. Really, and how many women have you ‘studied,’ Doctor? I let my whisper touch his ear.

Hux’s voice wavered a little, but he continued, albeit with a more breathy tone. W-well, most of my studies have been purely on paper.

Maybe you’d like to test your theories on a warm body. I moved around his chair and hopped up on the long lab desk, allowing my white coat to fall open and reveal my low-cut blouse and short skirt. What had I been reduced to? I’d become what I hated, but I couldn’t help myself. I crossed my legs and smiled seductively.

Hux stared. For an instant his eyes bulged then darkened. He sat there frozen for a long second.

I just licked my lips, waiting.

    Prologue

    What’s the Big Idea?

Hux, the boss needs you in the private conference room. He’s demanding to look at the beta. Bring whatever ya got. The talking head that poked through the laboratory doorway had disappeared.

Dr. Simon Huxtley removed his glasses and massaged the bridge of his nose. He glanced at the wall clock. Fifteen hours without a break had finally taken its toll. And it was about to get 13.65 percent worse. He glanced out the window. A light snow fell, mucking up the streets with gray slush and making his late-night trips home treacherous. Not that he made it home each night. Certainly not last night, but after this meeting he’d need to go check on the cat.

This meeting. He wasn’t ready. He wasn’t sure the world was ready, but still they’d said, Bring what you have.

Scorge was demanding to see the beta. Of course Scorge was demanding. Hux wasn’t sure there was even a question mark on the man’s keyboard. As the CEO of the largest online data processing company, his boss demanded everything—including a look at the DataMatch beta—and 93 percent of the time got what he wanted.

Hux sighed. If only he could study Scorge’s biochemistry. Just a small urine and blood sample would be enough. Then his theory about the man could be put to the test. The theory that the man’s endogenous testosterone levels were significantly higher than those of a normally functioning male, and that was why the CEO was a success…and an asshat. He shook his head as he entered a string of programming code into his computer. What a scientific breakthrough Hux would make if he could prove that theory—if he could prove it, use it for himself, and then market it. He’d call it Balls in a Bottle. Anil and Quan, his buddies at MIT, would love that one.

Maybe then he could get a date—a decent date. Wasn’t that the whole reason behind DataMatch to begin with? Wasn’t finding a girl who
