About this ebook

HIRANYA BORAH’S RANDOM THOUGHTS AND FACTS THROUGH A COLOURED PRISM Part Two takes the journey forward. This is book on thoughts, not necessarily completely new nor will give any new philosophy towards life. Some fictional narrations, mixed with real experiences, are also covered in the book to see human relations from different angles of life. But most of these articles are prepared like new packaging by small grocers, from big packets bought from large farms/ whole sellers. Readers may not find anything new in it- it is packed with ‘everything is known to us’ syndrome. Stories and sub-stories are written as if these are told to a group of friends after third or fourth peg of whisky away from family members.
Some of the articles are fresh looks from author’s point of view. Every point of view made by the author in these articles may be debated. However, the stories in the name of Kanak are based on true encounters which are either faced by the Author himself or by a very closely related person, either, male or female. Names are changed; situations are deliberately away from reality to avoid un-necessary controversy. In many of the stories, name of the story teller is given and other characters are not given any name even.

    Dilemma of a Young Mind

    Preface

It is a privilege to publish another book by me within a short span of time. The overwhelming response for my earlier book gave me the courage to publish this book. This book is somewhat different from the earlier one, though the thoughts are remain same.

Most of the stories, except few, are based on my personal experiences or personal experiences of my close relatives, friends or acquaintances. However, intentionally, I have changed the names of the characters alongwith the situations to honour the privacy of the people involved. Some sub-stories are borrowed from other publications as well. Further, since there are some adult contents, though those are considerably toned down, I recommend that no youngsters below 18 years of age should read it.

While writing my book, a lot of friends helped me through their active suggestions and encouragements. My family members were constant inspiration in my endeavours for a writing a better book. This book, comparatively, is written in a more structured way, though personally, I always want to write something more unstructured way. Two very important persons of my life, my son, Ayusman and my spiritual daughter, Deepika are in favour of structured book, with proper editing which forced me to compromise my own liking for unstructured writing.

My elder daughter, Anusuya offered financial assistance to print the earlier book, but I am not favouring the idea of printing the book at this juncture.

Again, my spiritual daughter, Avneet took all the pains to publish this book through Smashwords. Smashwords agreed to publish my second book, for which, I am very much thankful to Smashwords.

Last, but not the least, I am thankful to my wife, Monalisha and my younger daughter, Anwesha for allowing me to be busy in writing, when I should have spent my time with them. Further, Anwesha became my honorary publicity manager for the first book. She is so sweet when she is angry!

Chapter 1: Good Result- A letter from Kanak

    Dear Hiranya,

Let me congratulate your lovely daughter, Karishma for her result in Class-X final examination.

Euphoria of the excellent result of your daughter might have died down little bit after a week or so. That is the reason why I am writing this letter today instead of writing on the day of declaration of the result. My younger daughter, Parinita also got CGPS-10 in the Class-X examination this year. Though as a father, I am very happy on her achievement, it gives me an unknown worry as well.

In the year, 2005 my elder daughter, Tina topped the class X examination from her school, KV Airforce, Guwahati along with the All India highest mark in SST. You may find her name on the school notice board, if it is already not removed, whenever you visit the corridor of the school. When she was in Class XI, I was transferred to Delhi, and I could not bring my family to Delhi during the year. My son, Dirghanu who was two year junior to her, appeared for his Class X final examination in the year 2007. My daughter also had to appear for class XII final examination in that year.

Unfortunately, both could not do very well in the respective examinations. My son was able to secure only 86% in his Class X final examination whereas my daughter was only manage to get a mere 79% in her Twelfth examination. Drastic fall in the result of my daughter was due to the lack of focus on her part and not getting the requisite logistic supports from me during the whole year. That was a learning lesson for all of us.

My family had finally been shifted to Delhi in the year 2007 and after coming to Delhi all of us pulled up our socks. As a result of our combined efforts, my daughter stood second with 84% marks in the graduation examination from Delhi University and passed out Masters from another reputed University with a gold medal. Now she is a manager
