Laments of the Madman - Derrick Williams
Foreword
Dear Reader,
You now hold in your hands the second edition of my first book Laments of the Madman. Ahh such joy!!! Thank you for purchasing this book and I hope that you enjoy this updated version. Originally, when this book was in the making, I just wanted to publish something anything and used a variety of poems that I had typed or scanned over the years. There were a lot of errors that I needed to correct but I never had the impetus to actually correct them until now.
Inside this book of thoughts
there is no focus just pure me being Derrick. The ups, the downs, and the day to day grind. Many of these poems are from my drunken spirals, thus they show that madness really does have its own rewards. Also, the cover poem from my second book is printed here for the first time. If you did manage to read the second book, then compare the characters in this one to the ones that you and I already know.
I am still raw, the pain evident yet Hell is my domain. --- Derrick Williams
Flip-Side
A wonderful smile
Full pouty lips
A warm laugh
Shining eyes
Grace and Beauty
Flowing from every move
Regal in faded jeans and a crop top
That was me loving you from afar
Sobs that made God cry
Busted, Bleeding lips
Hot salty tears burning
My shoulder
Black eyes
Haggard and misshapen
Pain in a pink dress
And baby blue bows
That was me protecting you up close
I am alone
The damnable daemons demand that I write
Egging me pushing me
Forcing me to accept what I cannot
Thrashing around in a hotel bed
No sleep, no calm just past 3 a.m.
The daemons rob me of and from my rest
The thought, the overriding crescendo that he has been screaming
For the past week
I Am Alone, I AM ALONE!!!
Your mother died on your birthday 6 years ago
No one writes or calls, Your own father won’t see you, Your family despises the choices that you make
Your best friend won’t even tweet you
You are Alone!!!!
He spits this filth, this rage, this malfeasance until I am full
It owns me
