About this ebook
TRUE CRIME: WOMEN SERIAL KILLERS
Our society can barely account for evil in males, let alone imagine it in females. The female nests, creates, and nurtures doesn’t she or is it that we just want to believe in the intrinsic non-threatening nature of women?
Yet, history is full of instrumentally violent women: women who have fought wars and battles throughout the world, with no less ferociousness than men, women such as Dynamis of Bosphorous, who starved her husband to death and took control of his kingdom, or Artemisia, the queen of Halicarnassus in the 5th century, who conducted a brilliant but brutal military campaign against the Greeks. Mary Tudor, Queen Mary 1 of England, in 1553 became known as “Bloody Mary,” for her extreme cruelty and willingness to execute people.
In this short book meet 17 less known but equally murderous cold blooded women. After reading it you may find your perception of the gentler sex changed irrevocably. Enjoy.

INTRODUCTION
Our society can barely account for evil in males, let alone imagine it in females. The female nests, creates, and nurtures doesn’t she or is it that we just want to believe in the intrinsic non-threatening nature of women?
Yet, history is full of instrumentally violent women: women who have fought wars and battles throughout the world, with no less ferociousness than men, women such as Dynamis of Bosphorous, who starved her husband to death and took control of his kingdom, or Artemisia, the queen of Halicarnassus in the 5th century, who conducted a brilliant but brutal military campaign against the Greeks. Mary Tudor, Queen Mary 1 of England, in 1553 became known as Bloody Mary,
for her extreme cruelty and willingness to execute people and the list of brutal and blood-thirsty women goes on and on.
A grave misconception is that female serial killers are rare creatures, that they are not very common, a myth perpetuated by both the press and popular media. The entertainment industry produces a seemingly limitless litany of male serial murderer movies such as The Silence of the Lambs, which vary greatly in their adherence to reality and truth.
The one movie about women serial killers, the wonderful old 1944 dark movie comedy Arsenic and Old Lace, about two murderous spinsters, stops being quite so funny when you start to realize how many women serial killers there have been throughout history with the list growing longer year by year.
The short stories in this book are small extracts from the authors’ popular series of Women Serial Killers and Baby Farmers of the 19th Century.
TOFANIA
During the 17th Century in Italy, it was fashionable for wealthy women to have a 'white look’. A white face was considered highly fashionable and continued to be for several centuries. A pale complexion and white face demonstrated that you did not need to work; exposure to the sun while working in the fields caused the ruddy complexion of the farm laborer.
Varieties of ingredients were used as face powders to produce the required fashionable whiteness. One powder used was a face powder whose base was arsenic.
One leading supplier of this face powder was a woman who lived in Naples. Her name was Tofania, and her clients were the elite of society. The rich and famous women of the city would often pay a visit to Tofania to learn the uses and secrets of the cosmetic.
Tofania.jpgTofania was originally from Palermo, Sicily, which is where she had learned her profession. When the authorities in Palermo began to be suspicious of her activities, she moved to Naples.
Apart from her face powder, Tofania also dispensed her own unique love potion, and a deadly poison she called Acqua Tofana. Aqua Tofana contained a mixture of arsenic and lead and possibly belladonna. It was a
