About this ebook

Giulia Falcone-Driscoll has just taken on her first impossible client: The Silk Tie Killer. He's hired Driscoll Investigations to prove his innocence and they have only thirteen days to accomplish it.

Talk about being tried in the media. Everyone in town is sure Roger Fitch strangled his girlfriend with one of his silk neckties.

And then there's the local TMZ wannabes—The Scoop—stalking Giulia and her client for sleazy sound bites.

On top of all that, her assistant’s first baby is due any second, her scary smart admin still doesn’t relate well to humans, and her police detective husband insists her client is guilty. About this marriage thing—it’s unknown territory, but it sure beats ten years of living with 150 nuns.

Giulia’s ownership of Driscoll Investigations hasn’t changed her passion for justice from her convent years. But the more dirt she digs up, the more she’s worried her efforts will help a murderer escape.

As the client accuses DI of dragging its heels on purpose, Giulia thinks The Silk Tie Killer might be choosing one of his ties for her own neck.

Alice Loweecey

Baker of brownies and tormenter of characters, Alice Loweecey celebrates the day she jumped the wall with as much enthusiasm as her birthday. She grew up watching Hammer horror films and Scooby-Doo mysteries, which explains a whole lot. When she's not writing humorous mysteries or nightmare-inducing horror fiction, she can be found growing vegetables in her garden and water lilies in her koi pond.

"Never trust the ones who can turn that charm off and on like a light switch." This will most likely be a short review because I try not to make too negative of reviews. From the beginning I had a hard time really getting interested in this book. I never really liked or connected with the main character, Giulia. I especially didn't enjoy her complaining and bad mouthing about her years as a nun. The only character I really grew to like was Giulia's husband, Frank. The plot was a bit slow moving and really predictable. There were some suspenseful parts towards the end that I liked but those couldn't make up for all of the things that I didn't like about this. Needless to say I won't be continuing any further in this series.

This is a continuation of the series Falcone & Driscoll Investigation. Frank Falcone has gone back to working for the police and his wife, former nun turned Private Investigator, Guilia Falcone-Driscoll has taken over the agency. She is working for a company to help them determine who is embezzling from them. She also gets a call and is asked to investigate the "Silk Tie Murder". She takes the case even though the accused in the Silk Tie Murder is also a suspect in the embezzling case. Is this conflict of interest? While all this is going on, her receptionist is about to give birth and she has to hire a temp so Sidney can train her before she leaves for her maternity leave. The accused, Fitch, is a smarmy kind of guy and Guilia does not like him at all, but she still does her best to find the evidence that may clear him. Along the way, "The Scoop" a tabloid type television show is also investigating the Silk Tie Murder and more than once, Guilia is surprised by the reporter and his camera and ends up on television. Did Fitch kill his live in girlfriend? Who is embezzling? Will Sidney have time to train her replacement? This a fun book as it moves smoothly toward the ending. There are times it was a little slow, but overall I enjoyed the book and will definitely read the next one. I recommend this book to cozy mystery lovers, but don't look for the cooking and recipes as they do not take centre stage like so many others.
