About this ebook

When a top Hollywood Agent is found poisoned in the bathtub of her home, suspicion quickly turns to one of her two nieces. But Carol Childs, a reporter for a local talk radio station, doesn't believe it.

The suspect is her neighbor and friend, and also her primary source for insider industry news. After a media frenzy pits one niece against the other—and the body count starts to rise—Carol knows she must save her friend from being tried in the court of public opinion.

Even the most seasoned reporter can be surprised, and when a Hollywood psychic shows up in Carol's studio one night and warns her there will be more deaths, things take an unexpected turn.

Suddenly nobody is above suspicion. Carol must challenge both her friendship and the facts, and the only thing she knows for certain is that the killer is still out there.

But the closer she gets to the truth, the more danger she’s in.

Well written who-done-it, with a radio personality playing the part of detective. More than just a formulaic cosy murder mystery. Really enjoyed it.

4 STARS I was kept guessing until the end. Good suspense. Lots of drama, some action and a clean read. Interesting characters. I liked Carol Childs, she did her job, fought for her friend, Sam who she was sure was innocent. She kept digging to help find the killer. Top Hollywood agent was found dead. Carol Childs was one of the first to find out about it when her neighbor woke her up to use her phone. Sam said, "Her Aunt Pepper had died in the bath tub." Sam and Sarah twins both thought the other killed their Aunt Pepper. Carol's boyfriend Eric was a FBI Agent. They were on the case when there was multiple victims. Misty a Hollywood psychic was stalking Carol or so she thought. Misty even worked with the FBI on occasion. She kept warning Carol of danger. I read the book pretty fast because I really wanted to know who the murder was. I kept jumping around on who I thought it was. I would read another book by Nancy Cole Silverman. I was given this ebook to read by Net Galley and Henery Press. In return I agreed to give honest review of Shadow of Doubt and be part of its blog tour.

Usually I like to start my reviews off with a quote from the book but I was so wrapped up in this book that I never highlighted any passages from it on my Kindle. This was the perfect mix of mystery and suspense that had me constantly guessing who was behind it all. This grabbed my attention from the beginning and never let it go.At times this book seemed to be filled with characters that weren't very likeable. Luckily the main character, Carol Childs, was extremely likeable. I love how determined she was to find out what happened. I also have to say that I loved the relationships she had with her son, Charlie, and her FBI Agent boyfriend, Eric. There were a lot of the secondary characters that I just didn't like (especially Carol's boss Tyler) but those characters were definitely balanced out by interesting and likable characters (especially Misty).I had many guesses while reading this book as to who I thought committed the murders (some more far-fetched than others). I did manage to figure it out a little bit before Carol did but what I couldn't figure out was the why. I loved all the drama and action towards the end and am eager to read the next installment in the series as this one did leave some things unresolved. Thanks to NetGalley and Henery Press for the galley.

KCHC, Tinsel town’s own radio station, awash with female broadcasters, made a living out of swapping Hollywood gossip. Not only does cub reporter, Carol Childs, have the ear of a very dishy FBI agent, Eric Landon, her current beau but she also lives next door to Samantha Millhouse, niece of top Hollywood agent, Pepper Millhouse, to whom she owes a lot of her industry leaked stories.

When Sam shows up in tears, announcing that Pepper has been found dead in her bath tub she takes the exclusive story on-air. But when Sam is arrested for the murder of her aunt, and her twin-sister Sarah positions herself to take over the agency and the inheritance, Carol begins to wonder what the real truth is and her investigative search unearths a series of mysterious deaths.

When she is warned by a Hollywood psychic that not only will there be more deaths but that her own life may be in danger, Carol has to find out who was really behind the deaths that are sweeping around the country’s movie making capital.
Silverman does an awesome job of creating multiple red herrings and leaves the reader guessing up to the final page. You’ll think twice before taking that next long soak in a tub after you read this toe-curling thriller.

Carol Childs, the world’s oldest intern, is a fascinating character that just can’t stop asking questions. That’s what makes her character, and this book, so intriguing. Carol is not your average twenty-something protagonist meddling in things that don’t concern her; she’s a gal any thirty-something and older can relate to and one that younger readers can learn from. The story line flowed so well that one could imagine this book on the big screen. Silverman weaves a very interesting tale, depicting murder in a very unique manner. The addition of the California Tinseltown setting just adds to the intrigue, because we all love reading about “those people,” don’t we. Excellent read and I’m looking forward to book 2 in the Carol Childs Mystery series.

I live for holidays where I can take time away from teaching and spend a lot of time reading for pleasure. This author was new to me. I was asked to read the third book in this series. I must read the others before it to really get the flavor of the book. I have to say I really enjoyed this mystery. We have the main character Carol Childs who is trying to move up in the world of radio as a news reporter. We have her FBI boyfriend who is trying to solve the case in which he finds his girlfriend in the middle. We have Carol’s friend and neighbor who’s Hollywood agent aunt has just been murdered. Finally, we have a psychic with the name, wait for it, Misty Dawn. I love it. Carol is not one to really trust Misty, so why does she follow the clues she gives her? Simple, Misty seems to know so much about Carol’s personal life. Carol’s neighbor doesn’t seem all that broken up about her aunt’s death. Inheriting everything puts her as the number one suspect. All of this would seem like your normal mystery. This author does an excellent job of adding other characters to the mix that make them seem just as plausible as the murderer. Every time I thought, ‘Oh this one must be the murderer’ another curve was thrown. My list of possible murderers was beginning to stack up. She did such an excellent job of fleshing out each character and making them and their story so believable. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the second one Beyond a Doubt.
