About this ebook

Paralegal Hayden Kent knows firsthand that life in the Florida Keys can change from perfect to perilous in a heartbeat. When she discovers a man's body at 120' beneath the sea, she thinks she is witness to a tragic accident.

She becomes the prime suspect when the victim is revealed to be the brother of the man who recently jilted her, and she has no alibi. A migraine stole Hayden’s memory of the night of the death.

As the evidence mounts, she joins forces with Officer Janice Kirby. Together the two women follow the clues that uncover criminal activities at the highest levels and put Hayden’s life in jeopardy while she fights to stay free.

Kait Carson

Kait Carson has been writing mysteries since the fourth grade when she penned the words, "pop, pop, pop, here comes the cop" for a story poetry assignment. She opted for a career as a paralegal practicing in the area of probate, tax, and probate litigation. When she's not writing, you can find her scuba diving or in the air with her pilot husband. Kait lives with her husband, eight (count 'em) rescue cats, a cockatoo, and a harlequin macaw at an airpark in Fort Denaud, Florida.

The sea was always deadly. Every sailor knew that. But the dead man below didn't look to be any more a sailor than she was. Just an unlucky guy in the wrong place at the wrong time.I spent some time debating on whether to rate this 2.5 stars or 3 stars. Ultimately I choose 3 stars because I felt while the book wasn't great, it also wasn't bad. This book follows Hayden Kent who is a paralegal who loves to scuba dive. While scuba diving she finds a dead body and once the identity of the person is revealed she finds herself the prime suspect in a murder case. What really kind of threw me off about this book was the fact that most of the characters in the book were too melodramatic. Hayden seemed pretty shaken up after discovering the body, which is completely acceptable, but then she spent the rest of the book emotionally unstable. There were times when her emotions were called for but some of the time it just seemed over the top. She was definitely not the only character that was over the top at times. Cappy seemed angry all the time (mainly because her was worried for Hayden's safety), Kevin was over the top aggressive, Paul was a jerk for most of the book, and don't even get me started on the hysterics of Elena (although she might be the only character in this book that should rightly have gotten away with her hysterics). When all was revealed at the end I found myself not surprised with who was behind the murder. I don't feel that there were any real 'twists' in this book and readers can probably figure out who was behind the murder pretty easily. That being said, I still think that this book was overall enjoyable and I did connect really well with Hayden. I would definitely recommend this book if you like scuba diving or are interested in reading a book that has some underwater scenes in it. I'm interested to see what will happen next in this series. Thanks to NetGalley and Henery Press for the galley.
