Seven Mantras to Shape Your Day:

    This is the day

    My cup runneth over

    The fruit of the Spirit

As you did it to one of the least of these… you did it to me

I lift up my eyes to the hills

His mercies never come to an end, they are new every morning

Strive first for the kingdom of God and his righteousness

    Introduction

I chose the word mantra because a mantra is a sound, syllable, word or group of words that is considered capable of creating transformation. In the case of people of faith, the goal would be a spiritual transformation. I could just have easily called them spiritual practices, disciplines or even reminders. They are bible verses that remind us of something, especially when uttered at the right time or spoken repeatedly until they sink in and become a part of our spirit. The suggestion is to choose a few from these seven and say them to yourself. Perhaps you might say them over and over throughout the day as reminders.

Transformation… to transform… means to change. What changes? Well, repeating these mantras daily changes how you see things. That makes all the difference in the world. How you see things affects your attitude, your mood, your spirit, your inner nature, your perspective on life, and your devotion to God. It is truly amazing that changes of this magnitude can result simply from repeating some of these verses every day. Use these mantras to shape your day. Indeed, as you come to own them, they begin to shape your whole life.

Why bother? Who wants to change? Answer: The person of faith who desires to know God better and to love God more. Out of your devotion, you are motivated to want to please God, to communicate with God, and to glorify God. These mantras have the potential to lift you out of a daily routine or even a rut into a higher spiritual plain that reframes how you see things…
