Alexis Levine has just graduated from high school and intends to join the Army as soon as she turns eighteen. Her dream is to become a sniper, just like her often absent father. During routine weapons practice, she meets Mark Steel, the head of a small team of agents who work for a mysterious organization. He needs someone with outstanding skills to help his squad destroy seven psychotic psychics. With her father overseas on a mission, she is the next best choice.   Still reeling from the knowledge that psychics actually exist, Lexi agrees to become a temporary member of their team. From the first moment that she meets Reece Garrett, she is instantly drawn to him. He is strong, sexy and charismatic and unfortunately thinks of her as little more than a child.   Agent Garrett and his team have a secret that few people are aware of. They are shape shifters who transform into ravenous beasts with every full moon. The upside of being shifters is that they possess a natural resistance to mind control, which makes them the perfect team to hunt the psychics. But Reece soon learns that some instincts are impossible for even him to deny. Caught in a mind trap that he can't escape from, he finds himself irresistibly drawn to the newest member of the team.

Lexi Levine's life changed forever the night she became a werewolf. She was only meant to be a temporary addition to the Shifter Squad, but at barely eighteen, she is now a permanent member of the team.   Well used to facing danger, none of the squad is prepared to meet Lexi's father. Major Philip Levine is a sniper with unparalleled skills. He has returned from his overseas mission to seek answers. Even Lexi isn't sure how he will react when he meets the squad for the first time. Still coming to terms with her new role as a shifter, she is in denial about the mysterious link that has sprung up between her and Agent Reece Garrett. She hopes in vain that if she pretends that it doesn't exist, it will just go away.   If the squad manages to survive her father's anger, they must then face an even bigger threat. A voodoo practitioner has been raising corpses in New Orleans and the Shifter Squad has been ordered to investigate. If they fail to stop the man who calls himself the Zombie King, his undead minions will soon overrun the city.

On the heels of completing their latest mission, Lexi and Reece sense another werewolf hunting in the same area. One glance into his mind tells them that there is something very wrong with him. When a body is found in the woods nearby, their intuition is proven to be correct. The shifter has turned rogue and it is their job to hunt him down.   Mark relocates the squad to their base in West Virginia. He begins digging into a series of deaths that have taken place during the past few years. It quickly becomes apparent that it wasn't an accident that they crossed paths with the unstable shifter.   When a camper mysteriously goes missing just a few hours away from their compound, Lexi and Reece are sent to investigate. Lexi has a feeling that Mark knows more about the rogue wolf than he is willing to admit. When their two missions unexpectedly collide, they are caught in a trap that could end up changing everything forever. 

Lexi Levine has a secret that she is desperate to keep from the rest of the Shifter Squad. She is being hunted by a vampire who is determined to turn her into the undead. Lexi hopes that leaving New Orleans will enable her to escape from the fate that is haunting her.   The squad is sent to West Virginia on a mysterious mission from one of the Paranormal Investigation Agency's upper echelon. The foes they face this time might be human, yet they are as dangerous and unpredictable as any monsters.   Lexi discovers that the house they are using for their base of operations is occupied by more than just ordinary people. Burdened with unique talents, only she can see the creatures that are invisible to everyone else. She doesn't know why she is so different from other shifters, but she will have to learn how to use her new abilities if they hope to prevail against the Dark Coven.

With the vampire virus slowly but surely working its way through Lexi and Reece, they must soon face down the being that has infected them or risk losing their souls to darkness. While on their way to confront Lexi's mother, the squad is called away to investigate a slew of missing corpses. Reece has his own problems to face. He is torn between his duty to his team and the lifelong dream that is now being offered to him. While he can postpone the inevitable, he will eventually have to make a decision. Not even he knows what his final choice will be. It doesn't take long before their newest mission takes a turn for the worse. Lexi is confronted with an awful truth about herself that she has been trying her hardest to deny. Her survival depends on tapping a talent that could cause her own team to turn against her if they learn of its existence.

Defying the cycle of the moon that binds all shape shifters, Lexi transforms into her alter ego in an attempt to flee from her sorrow and anguish. Little does she know that no matter how far or fast she runs, she can't escape from her grief at being abandoned by her mate.   Locked in her werewolf form, it takes a catastrophe to force her to become human again. Stepping back into her normal life isn't easy, but Lexi must set aside her personal problems when one of her friends goes missing during their next mission. The team needs her to step up and become an alpha in deed rather than just in name.   Even during her prolonged time spent as a werewolf, the vampirism has been insidiously spreading through her. The time is coming when Lexi will reach the point of no return. Soon, she will become the very thing that the Shifter Squad hunts down and destroys.  

On a quest to hunt down her mother, Lexi underestimates just how powerful the vampirism in her system has become. Intent on murder, she is instead drawn in by false promises and sweet lies. Katrina rules her nest through intimidation and fear, but she possesses a talent that no other undead creature has ever had before. This makes her far harder to kill than Lexi had anticipated. It will take cunning and ingenuity to end the master vampire's life.   Lexi isn't the only one who is suffering. Reece is going through his own form of torment. The perfect life he'd experienced in a succubus induced dream is just a figment of his imagination. Nothing is as he'd expected since leaving the Shifter Squad and joining his pack.   At the next full moon, Lexi becomes something that has never existed before. Part wolf, part vampire and part something else, she sets out to confront the mate who abandoned her. Reece Garrett is responsible for her becoming an abomination. She decides that it is high time he answered for what he did to her.

With the apocalypse fast approaching, Lexi now knows who her nemesis is, but he isn't going to be easy to defeat. She and the Shifter Squad must find a way to halt the stone golems and their minions as well as the hordes of zombies and hell spawn that will soon overwhelm the country.   They won't be alone during the battles ahead. They have gained friends and allies during their missions who will come to their aid when called. Chosen by Fate to save humankind from annihilation, Lexi must call on every skill that she has acquired during her trials.   Even with her army behind her, she despairs that it might not be enough to win a war against the increasing flood of demons that are being unleashed from hell.

Lexi has faced many difficult challenges since becoming a member of the Shifter Squad. All were apparently designed to teach her the skills she needs to undertake the duty that Fate has given her. As absurd as it may seem, she is destined to save the world. Thankfully, she won't have to tackle this daunting task alone.   The rival organization known as EERI are somehow involved in the coming threat. The Squad's goal is to hunt down the rival organization's leader and end them before they can destroy mankind. Before they can embark on their search, they are sidetracked by a new mission.   As they begin to close in on their enemy, a new threat arises that heralds the beginning of the end. Their target knows their weaknesses and they will do anything they can to destroy the team's morale. Lexi was told that she has all the tools she needs to fight her nemesis, but not even her new speed and strength will be enough to save the life of someone she loves.
