Author’s Notes about Birth Data

Data accuracy. Many famous people have different birth years published in different places. The author has checked multiple sources for accuracy and asks that reliable data corrections be submitted to info@quotablezodiac.com.

Old Style / New Style dating. All countries in the Western world shifted from the Julian (Old Style or O.S.) to the Gregorian (New Style or N.S.) calendar, jumping ahead up to 12 days to catch up with the actual movements of the Sun. The timing of the change varied significantly by country, with France adjusting in 1582, England in 1752, and Russia in 1918. All birthdates in The Quotable Scorpio use New Style dating to accurately reflect the astrological position of the Sun.

On the cusp. The usual dates for a Scorpio Sun are October 23 through November 22. But the Sun moves from Libra to Scorpio and from Scorpio to Sagittarius at a specific moment each year, with the dates varying by a day or two from year to year. In the effort to include only true Scorpios in this book, the author evaluated place of birth and time of birth where available. If you were born on the cusp and are unsure about your own Sun sign, email your date, time and place of birth to help@quotablezodiac.com for a free astrological identification.

Introduction

You know you’re a Scorpio. You identify with the standard adjectives used to describe Scorpio—intense, subtle, sexual, possessive. But you’d like more dimension to what being a Scorpio means.

The Quotable Scorpio lets your fellow Scorpions tell your story. Famous Scorpions describe your natural Talents for commitment and personal evolution in one chapter, addressing Challenges like jealousy and control in another. The section on Double-Edged Traits highlights Scorpio characteristics like privacy and sexuality that become strengths or weaknesses depending on expression. Chapters about Work, Creativity, Sports, and Relationships let you focus on Scorpio tendencies within a specific arena. Scorpio’s core traits of control, transformation, sexuality and all-or-nothing intensity come through in all areas. The Quotable Scorpio lets you select Scorpio leaders, artists and athletes to identify with as you develop your own Scorpio potential.

The astrological placement of Sun in Scorpio at your moment of birth indicates your core energy, the life force driving the rest of your personality. From classic literature to contemporary celebrities, statements from other Scorpions underscore your natural tendencies. It goes beyond coincidence that Scorpio claims more U.S. Presidents and First Ladies than any other zodiac sign; the White House satisfies the Scorpio instinct for Power. Scorpio ranks second among zodiac signs for actress Oscars, reflecting the Scorpionic mix of magnetism and subtlety. Underlying sexuality makes it easy to present a list of famous Scorpions identified primarily with sex.

Astrology is most useful as a tool for self-knowledge, validating specific tendencies that you already perceive in yourself. Astrology describes the hand of cards that you were born with, but you put the cards into play. The Quotable Scorpio helps you better understand yourself so that you more effectively manage your Scorpio tendencies to achieve your goals.
