In London, be with Al as he revisits some of his favorite places from past trips. Be with him, as well, when he takes in what he missed earlier, like a ride on the London Eye and Regent’s Park.
The best is yet to come when Al visits Ireland for the first time. You’ll want to be with him as he discovers all that is special in Dublin and some of its outer environs.
Don’t miss the fun!

"Starfish Chronicles" is my third fiction offering in nine months. It is middle-grade-reader fantasy and follows two adult science fiction books, "Creator, Apocalyptic Sci-Fi Epic, Earth’s Human Behavior Confronted" and "Alternative Lives, To Sleep Perchance to Dream...Another Life." In addition, “Superhero, Chronicles of Blue Knight Adventures,” book length fantasy for young adults, is just days away from publication. "Starfish Chronicles" is currently available in paperback and for Kindle at Amazon.com. My main retirement interests are travel, photography, and writing. My high-tech work life included hardware engineering on the front end, software engineering on the tail end, and 25 years of sales and marketing in between. Future writing projects include adult science fiction, “The Story Teller” (or “Conjurer” ... I have not decided yet). There is much else awaiting my attention: Butterphant stories for younger children; Lorna’s Legacy, adult novel based on true events; Sales – Honing the Craft, non-fiction. I have been telling stories my whole life. My children and grandchildren were ready audiences who assumed I could deliver a new story on demand and generally, I did.

Acknowledgements
I want to acknowledge all of the transportation and hotel people who made my travel easier and more enjoyable. I also want to credit the local residents who spoke openly about their lives and matters of mutual interest. My wife’s inability to make this trip as planned left me in a state of some apprehension. I need not to have worried. There are still many who are kind to a traveler from afar.
Preface
I almost cancelled this trip. At the last minute, my wife, Ellen, was unable to make the journey but pressed me to go anyway. It was odd to be on my own. Trips without Ellen were usually with other family members. At three quarters of a century and counting, I’ve slowed a bit and have to pay attention to a couple of chronic physical issues that hamper me. However, I refused to allow any of this to get in the way of a return to Europe. It was an opportunity to revisit remarkable London and to visit Erin’s Isle for the first time. It was well worth it.
Prologue
I had no plan for sharing the story of my travel to London and Dublin. However, I wrote an entry in my journal every day for my wife, Ellen. I was sad she was missing this trip, and I shared as much of it as possible with her in this way. The result was very similar to what is in this book.
Al’s London & Dublin Holiday languished quietly on my computer for six months while I devoted myself to publishing four other books, all fiction:
* Creator, adult science fiction
* Alternative Lives, adult science fiction
* Starfish Chronicles, children’s fantasy
* Superhero, young adult/adult fantasy
Even though I traveled much of the world and spent time in most major United States cities, a travel book never entered my mind. I saved memories in photos. Over 300,000 visitors to Webshots online have viewed my 90 albums and 15,000 pictures.
Now, I offer you Al’s London & Dublin Holiday. I hope you enjoy the joys and travails of my odyssey.

Day One - Flightmares
Tuesday, August 2, 2011.
I could start out by describing this as a journey of a thousand miles,
but my trip is much longer. How far is it from Portland, Oregon, USA, to London, England? 4910 miles as the crow flies, as they say. Let’s round it off at 5000, since it is broken into two segments, as the plane flies. There is a non-stop Portland to Boston flight, connecting with a non-stop Boston to London flight. The total number of hours depends on the layover time in Boston.
I have more to tell regarding the
