About Alex Rane
- Introduction -
The crystal clear water sparkled brightly in the shimmering sunlight outside the simple cottage. A Liikili bird twittered in the branches outside the tiny village of Emmlian nestled below the cottage.
Inside the small house, a rather odd-looking little man was drinking his Lipplim-leaf milk, mixed with a tiny amount of Echomo coffee, just the way he liked it. People in the village thought the man was perhaps not the brightest, but truth be told, the little man was very bright. He simply did not enjoy many people around him, so he drew away to his isolated cottage more often than not.
This man is the main person in this story, for without him, there would be no story at all. So it is rather important that you know his name, what he liked to do, and who he was. His name was Gabullim Ekker, and he was a very content Mollok, who did not like very much excitement, nor those who did. He liked to have coffee and milk get-togethers with Molloks who did not have many new ideas, (like himself), and who did not enjoy loud things, (like himself), and who would not, no matter what, do anything out of the ordinary, (also like himself). His favorite drink was milk, with a drop of his much-loved Echomo coffee.
Before I continue, to make sense of this tale, I must tell you a bit more of the Mollok folk. They are of average height, calm, quite meek, and, (I hate to say it, but ‘tis true), rather boring. They are known to be very good ‘tasters’. They eat only the finest meats, the finest vegetables, and even then, they still dislike fine orange Hasslokos. Disdaining anything that has not been done for centuries before, they have never really changed, even from the dawn of Arkania.
What is Arkania? Let me explain. Arkania is the world in which the Molloks, the Sunrides, the Jiuouts, the Yiprruos, and many other strange groups of people live. It is a very good world, full of pleasant folk, nice green hills, and blue skies. Everyone generally gets along, unless, of course, they don’t.
There has been no war in the land, with the exception of the Drying War. The Drying War occurred at the creation of Arkania, about 97 Nimmliks ago. The Drying War had been a conflict between all of the creature-groups, including the well-known people and animal groups, such as the Echoes of Doom, (horrible, bloodthirsty creatures, as big as a large house), Ullteos, (Beware! Do not even dare think of these, lest they come to you and eat you right up), as well as between some rather nice creature-types, like the Triimliims, (sweet, but a bit scary on first sight; their heads disappear into the puffy white clouds),
