Awakening the Giant Within - Bernard Kimani

    The Tragedy of Wasted Potential

The non-discovery of one’s gifting, talent and potential is a great tragedy in life. Potential is what you are capable of doing or becoming. It is the latent, untapped, unexplored capacity within you. As Wade Sadlier says Your potential is everything you can become, everything you will achieve, and everything that lies within your future influence that will live on after you are gone.[1] If Potential is not utilized, it will haunt you for the rest of your life. The moment you discover that you never became what you were intended to be will arouse memories and feelings that will even cost you of your health. Many people die after retirement because it dawns to them that they never acquired what they wanted, they never built the bungalow they saw in the eyes of faith when they started working. They never bought the car of their dream. They never married the Miss world of their youth. The memories of what was lost that should have been gained emits poisonous juices within them that lead to terminal disease. It can be avoided! It is not too late!

In Judges 6:1ff we notice that the people of Israel were being oppressed by the Midianites, yet God intended that they conquer their enemies. They were supposed to show the glory of God among other nations, but it seems like these same nations had a field day in their midst. The oppression was so much that they left their homes to live in the clefts of the rock. (Judges 6:2). Likewise, God wired you up with certain abilities that if not realized, you will never blame God for what did not happen but God will judge you on the great day of accountability when you will stand before the Father and give an account of what you did with what you got.

I believe the saddest thing in life is wasted potential: A life that is lived below its intended quality and purpose. Myles Munroe, in his book Understanding Your Potential indicates that the richest spot on earth is in the grave. "This is because buried beneath the soil and within the walls of these sacred grounds are dreams that never came to pass, songs that were never sung, books that were never written, paintings that never filled a canvas, ideas that were never shared, visions that never became a reality, inventions that were never designed, plans that never went beyond the drawing board of the mind and purposes that were never
