*Beware, May contain a few spoilers

This is by far my favorite in the series. It made me cry quite a bit. I loved that she was a “commoner” and wasn’t beautiful when he meets her and still not more than pretty when falls in love with her. So many romances are between a “dashing hero” and an “exquisite heroine” or some other similar overused adjectives that I want to scream, “what about the plain looking people?!”

The only thing I was really disappointed with was the final scene when we learn the fate of the villains. There is no way in hell I would have simply sent them to America with no money. They tried to kill both the hero and heroine, more than once mind you, and they were partially responsible for the torture and enslavement of the hero for a fricking year!! What’s to stop them from coming back to England later and attempting to do it again or having someone else do it?!
The Hero had money, power, and his own shipping company so he could have easily sent them to Australia or some other far away destination and still avoided a trial and all the gossip that would have ensued. Not to mention the fact that throughout the story the author writes that the hero doesn’t give a damn what other people think about him. If I was the heroine, I’d be fricking pissed that my husband let them off so easily; I don’t care if they are his only remaining family or not. She was a commoner and thought the class system was bad, shouldn’t she protest the fact they weren’t punished as commoners would’ve been? Anyway, that’s my opinion.
