About this ebook

Eveline Weaver is returning to Richmond for her uncle's funeral. It's a service she'd prefer to miss. Uncle Neville was not the kind, old uncle the rest of the public deemed him to be and remembering his life is not what she wants to do.

Throughout the service, she's counting down the minutes until she's back on the plane returning home to Atlanta. Only when she spots a familiar face from her past after the service, she reconsiders going back so soon. Dodge Mallory. The one every girl in high school wanted, including Eveline.

One embarrassing afternoon with him changed her life. Did he remember her? Did she really want him to?

In one short trip, Eveline is forced to face all of her demons at once. Find out more! Get your copy now!

Author

Tonya Rice

Tonya Rice writes contemporary and historical stories, focusing on family life. She's been a department store area manager, corporate proofreader, legal secretary, receptionist, and office manager - all of those delightful things that they told her she'd do with her English degree. She also was a participant in the very first year of the University of Virginia Young Writer’s Workshop and has known since those early days that all she'd ever really wanted to do was write and publish stories to make a darned (for my Rated G audience) good living at it like Jackie Collins. Now, God-willing, she's on her way!.   She is currently editing her new novel, set in the South, during the mid to late 20th century.   Tonya is a native of Richmond, Virginia. She received her BA from Hollins College and her MFA from National University. In addition to the blog, Front Porch, Sweet Tea, and a Pile of Books, she manages the classic film blog, Goosepimply All Over. Tonya also a member of She Writes and James River Writers.  She lives in Virginia with her family, which includes their cat with whom she shares her office and ultimately her desk.

Eveline didn’t think much about her Uncle Neville. She was less inclined to attend his funeral in the next couple of days.  But since her mother had taken the trouble to purchase a ticket for the first flight to Richmond that morning she found herself at a terminal at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport waiting to board before noon. She couldn’t avoid that man’s burial even if she were dead herself.

Everyone in the family is expected. It’s a level of respect to us all. Natalie Weaver told her daughter. So you’ll be there.

Uncle Neville was the family perv. As teens, Eveline and her cousins suffered at his touchy-feely hands. Maybe seeing them laid up in the coffin with the rest of his mole-covered body was what she needed after all.

Eveline’s cousin Lula picked her up from Richmond International Airport that Monday afternoon in April. They soon met their Auntie June at Josi’s Boutique in Short Pump, just a few miles outside of the city. It was June’s favorite shop and she wanted to make sure she looked the part of the grieving widow.  The shop’s owner, Eden Harper, brought one of her best
