The king fears the worst and sends his knights to find the kidnapped princess. He sends them to the east, to the west, to the south, and to the north. Of Sir Lucas, the most skilled knight of them all, the king demands that he find the princess or not come back to the castle for one whole year.

You Can’t Walk Your Rabbit Without a Leash
The princess of this kingdom has been kidnapped. Any and all kidnappers beware. You will be eaten alive! Not literally—we aren’t cannibals after all—but metaphorically. Any and all knights of this kingdom are to report to the king. The one who finds the princess will be rewarded handsomely.
Sir Lucas read the missive one more time before he entered the throne room. This was his chance, his one and only chance.
The king sat on his throne. His dark black hair, with blue highlights, shone against the golden coronet. His eyes were the green of emeralds, and when the light hit them they shone like the jewels they resembled.
Lucas could admit it to himself that he found the king handsome beyond belief. It wasn’t that the man had the most attractive features, although Lucas liked them fine, but his colors and his temperament were such fine things.
Lucas strode up to the throne and knelt before his king. Your Majesty, I come at your summons.
Sir Lucas, you are to search for the kidnappers. My sister must be returned.
Where have the knights before me gone, my king?
To the east, to the west, to the south and to the north.
The king pointed in each direction as he spoke. Then the king quietly waited while Sir Lucas thought.
Then I will visit the place whence she was taken before doing anything else, my king.
