    Stephen Bly

    Stephen Bly (1944-2011) authored and co-authored with his wife, Janet Chester Bly, more than 100 books, both historical and contemporary fiction and nonfiction. He won the Christy Award in the category western novel for The Long Trail Home, from The Fortunes of the Black Hills Series. Other novels were Christy Award finalists: The Outlaw's Twin Sister, Picture Rock, and Last of the Texas Camp. His last novel, Stuart Brannon's Final Shot, finished with the help of his widow, Janet Chester Bly, and three sons--Russell, Michael, and Aaron--was a SELAH Award finalist. She just completed her first solo adult Indie novel, Wind in the Wires, Book 1, Trails of Reba Cahill.

      Four men arrived carrying a paralyzed man on a mat. They couldn’t get to Jesus through the crowd, so they dug through the clay roof above his head. Then they lowered the sick man on his mat, right down in front of Jesus.

      Jesus’ popularity was on the rise. He drew huge crowds. People everywhere buzzed about His miracles and unusual teachings. They pursued Him. They hunted Him down. Such a press of people gathered at Peter’s home. Believers and curiosity seekers alike strained to catch a glimpse of the new folk hero, Jesus. Peasants as well as religious leaders pushed and shoved their way into and around the small Galilean mud house.

      Meanwhile, four men carried their sick, paralyzed friend.

      Little is known about the palsied (KJV version) or paralyzed man except he would be on the lowest rung of the social ladder. Yet the man was rich in one respect: he had friends who cared. They hefted him from his home
