Chapter 1
Patricia and Steve sat quietly in the waiting room. As she leaned on Steve’s shoulder she began to sob. Steve squeezed her hand gently and kissed her forehead. Patricia looked into his eyes and asked in a raspy voice, Why us?
Steve felt hurt and confused as he gazed around the waiting room and noticed the bland colors everywhere. The walls were creamy white, the floor was creamy tile and the chair cushions were light tan tweed. Everything about this room looked cold and sterile. No wonder Patricia felt so stressed.
Steve’s mind wandered back to the time when he first saw Patricia. She was a ravishing model with long blonde hair, blue eyes, long legs, and a tiny waist with narrow hips that’s required of all models. His best friend, Richard, had invited him to a fashion show for a charity event that he and his wife Jenny were attending. He remembered that Patricia and Traci both were in the show.
Traci had been Jenny’s friend for many years however Patricia had later became friends with both of them. All three of them had become inseparable. It was always fun for Steve when he and Richard used to hang out together. When Richard met Jenny at one of the country club’s social events, things changed. Since that time, Richard had spent his waking moments pursuing Jenny, which led to their surprise marriage. Unfortunately, Richard spent very little time with Steve after he got married.
Richard, man, can’t we at least meet for a beer after work?
Steve asked. You always have that new wife of yours holding you for ransom.
It’s not like that,
Richard said.
I swear Richard, I think you must be in loooove,
Steve sang.
Okay, Steve, that’s enough. You don’t know what love is. Jenny is the best thing that ever happened to me. Maybe you need to stop playing the field and settle down yourself,
Richard argued.
Steve glared at Richard and said, Whatever.
I have a great idea,
Richard said. Jenny has a friend named Patricia. She’s gorgeous. She’s the model in that fashion show we went to. Remember? It turns out that she had become a very nice and sweet person. You should meet her.
Yeah, you know, that’s a good idea since I do need some fresh meat. All the women I’ve been meeting lately only want one thing. They are so shallow. I mean, they have plenty of money and practically everything anyone could want out of life, but they just want to sleep around with no commitment. I’m getting pretty sick of them.
Steve paused for a moment and thought, Ok, why not?
Good! Let’s plan a dinner, movie, drinks thing,
Richard suggested.
They all met a week later, went out to dinner at Georgio’s Italian Restaurant, took in a movie and then retreated to Smoky’s Bar over drinks. Richard noticed throughout the evening that Steve was really warming up to Patricia. They were surprised when Steve announced that he and Patricia were leaving to find a livelier place. Richard and Jenny gave a knowing smile and seemed delighted as they watched them leave.
Chapter 2
As they sat in the doctor’s office, Steve smiled down at Patricia. He loved the smell of her hair and the softness of her skin. He felt helpless, however, because he couldn’t take away the anxiety of this infernal waiting. How he wished they weren’t faced with this current dilemma and his heart ached for their new baby, Emily. Poor little Emily, he thought. She’s been a fighter since she was born. It was a difficult labor for Patricia, but baby Emily came through it all just fine, except for now. Here they sat in the doctor’s office waiting for the lab results to determine why little Emily at 2 months old was not well. She wouldn’t eat, she didn’t seem to have any energy and she looked very pale.
Dr. Douglas walked into the waiting room.
He greeted the Hamilton’s and invited them both into his office. Please have a seat,
he said as he rounded his desk, shuffled some papers then folded his hands and placed them on his desk. What is the prognosis?
asked Steve, as he was helping Patricia into her chair. Dr. Douglas cleared his throat and stared directly into Steve and Patricia’s eyes and said, I‘m sorry to tell you that little Emily has a rare blood disease that’s causing some major problems.
Patricia lost control of herself, jumped to her feet and yelled, What’s wrong with my daughter?
You tell me now, what’s wrong with her and you’d better tell me that you can fix it." Steve grabbed Patricia by the arm, stood quickly and pulled her close to him and attempted to hold her in his arms. He tried to quiet her, but she pulled away from him and again turned on Dr. Douglas. Dr. Douglas cleared his throat and said quietly that baby Emily’s condition was rare, but there is so much new research out there now and that he’s sure the solution is available.
Well, let’s get it done quickly,
Patricia said.
Settle down please sweetheart,
Steve begged.
I will not settle down until I know my daughter will be OK.
She said in anger.
Dr. Douglas,
Steve asked, What can be done to help our daughter?
Dr. Douglas went on to explain that he needed to do more blood tests and possibly a blood transfusion would be needed. He assured the parents that with proper treatment their daughter would be back to 100% health. That seemed to calm Patricia somewhat, but Steve was very agitated with her for her disrespect of the doctor. He had never seen that side of Patricia before and it was a little frightening for him. Patricia sat quietly and felt embarrassed by her reaction. Patricia had a flashback of her old self and tried very hard to shake those nagging thoughts of her past.
Patricia began remembering her time spent in an overseas orphanage. She never knew her real mom or dad. When she was about 3 years old, she was adopted by an American serviceman and his wife. They bought her to America and were loving and kind to her. She learned to love them and felt she had a real family. Patricia’s adopted parents were later killed in an automobile accident. She ultimately ended up in Foster Care. By that time she was 5 years old and confused. She lived with different people in the foster care system until she was 7 years old when one day Bobbie Sims took her in. This became her new real home. She grew to love Mommy Bobbie for taking her in and giving her the love she craved.
Unfortunately, by age 14 Patricia had developed a very low self-esteem. In Jr-High school she was approached by a shy boy who asked her if she ever had sex. Since he was so timid Patricia said yes even though she had not. Young Timmy asked her to show him how to do it. Patricia understood how to do sex from books she had read. Even though this was her first time, she said yes. They made arrangements to meet after school where they hid in the school storeroom until everyone had left. She took off all her clothes. Timmy did the same. They both stood looking at each other naked. Patricia kissed Timmy on the mouth. Timmy grinned and kissed her on the mouth too. Patricia touched Timmy’s private parts. He jumped and his private got bigger. Patricia put some towels on the bare concrete floor and pulled Timmy down next to her. Timmy was very excited while Patricia was trying to remember what she had read in books about how babies are made and a romance novel. She laid down and moved Timmy into position on top of her. She reached down and placed Timmy’s private inside her. Timmy was becoming more and more excited. Patricia started moving her body up and down with Timmy on top of her as he was trying to hang on. Timmy moaned excitedly then exploded inside her.
Patricia smiled and felt confident that she had just taught Timmy how to have sex. They both used the towels to clean themselves and grinned at each other. Patricia made Timmy promise to never tell anyone about this. She said if he said anything that she would make his life miserable. She told Timmy not to speak to her or bother her again or else she would make him pay. He promised. Patricia felt powerful and in control for the first time in her life. In high school, Patricia slept with any boy who wanted her. Many of them loved to use her for their own pleasure. Sleeping with all the boys who were interested in her made her feel wanted and powerful. One boy named Randy, found himself attracted to her but not for her body. He thought she had the potential to be a very nice person. They spent some pleasant time together and Patricia enjoyed that closeness because she had never experienced it before with other boys. She began looking at herself differently and with the possibilities of actually being wanted for something other than sex. Yet, the other boys knew they could count on her for sex anytime they wanted it.
Patricia had viewed sex as power and knew that she was in control. On one particular day one of the boys invited her to meet him after class at the usual place. The usual place was anywhere two young teenagers could find a secret place to meet. That could mean, behind a hill in the park, under the stairwell, under the bleachers or even in the boy’s private home and in his bedroom. On this particular day the boy named Andy met her under the bleachers. When he tried to remove her blouse, Patricia suddenly felt a powerful urge to be seen as something more than a sex partner. She rejected him. He pushed her down and thrust himself upon her. She fought back, kicking and pushing him until he was pushed against the steps and bruised his head. He was furious when he saw the blood rushing from his temple.
You tramp, trash, bitch. You’re nothing but a trickster. You’re not Patricia, you’re a trickster. Yeah, that’s what you are. You’re Tricksy.
That name stuck with her. All through high school she was known as Tricksy. Tricksy felt powerful with that name and no one ever tried to force themselves on her again. Tricksy was in control.
Chapter 3
Tricksy
Tricksy lived with her foster mother, whom she called Mommy Bobbie. She lived with Mommy Bobbie until her foster mother was sent to jail for shoplifting. Mommy Bobbie loved Patricia so much that she wanted to give her everything the other kids had. She knew Patricia loved the newest designer clothing styles the other kids were wearing, but Mommy Bobbie couldn’t afford them. On one shopping trip to Marlin’s Department Store, Mommy Bobbi stuffed a nice blouse and skirt into her panties then slipped back into her overcoat. As she left the store, the security tag tripped the alarm. Guards rushed to the door and asked her to please follow them. They took her to a back office where they questioned her, retrieved the stolen merchandise and contacted the police. She was arrested and taken to jail. She was later found guilty and sentenced to prison time. This left Tricksy with no feasible means to be taken care of. She was returned to foster care and was passed along in the foster care system until she reached her 18th year.
With nowhere to go, she found herself hanging out with whomever would take her in. Tricksy slept on old high school friends’ couch, boyfriend’s beds and finally took up with a young man who promised he would take care of her. His name was Jade. Jade was a man of the world. He always carried around a lot of money and had a group of people following him around like a big shot. Jade showed Tricksy how to make it in the world without working. He said, all it takes is good looks, a cool head, and some smarts. He bragged, Stick with me kid and you’ll be a star.
Tricksy began a life of high drama. She was always careful to stay above the law, but learned to be the footman (foot-woman) for people who needed to get their hands on sensitive information. She changed her appearance to look the part, dress the part, and act the part of someone who could get themselves into any business office to obtain the information Jade’s clients requested. Sometimes it was just the combination to the office safe or certain files that someone may need. It could also be a need to simply take a picture of ledger accounts, or obtain certain information being kept in a secret file.
Tricksy became an excellent actress and could charm, act, or demand her way into any situation. After a while, she grew tired of being used and decided she needed to find a real job. Tricksy was now faced with a hard reality. No one would hire her because she had no legitimate or usable skills in the marketplace. Jade was her only hope at the time. He provided the jobs. Tricksy did the jobs. Jade paid her a decent sum of money and the cycle continued until she met Eddie.
Falling for Eddie proved to be a rewarding experience for her. She never really explained to him fully what she did for a living. Tricksy told him she provided hard to get information for clients. Eddie thought she was an analyst or auditor of some sort, but never really questioned Tricksy. Eddie was too involved in his own business. He was truly smitten by Tricksy. He often gave her beautiful expensive gifts and showered her with genuine affection. Tricksy grew tired of the information gathering jobs, but Eddie gave her a lead for a new job because Tricksy said she wanted a change. She faced a hard reality. She was once again alone and had to start over again this time in New Haven. Thanks to Eddie, she felt fortunate to get this opportunity.
Chapter 4
Eddie and Tricksy
While standing in line to get into one of the latest swanky bars in town, Tricksy teased the body guards at the door about how good they looked. Hey good looking,
she called out as she got closer to the door. Whatcha doing after work,
she asked one of the guards? Let’s talk later,
she said to the guard as she struck her most provocative pose and winked at him. His name was Eddie.
For Eddie, it was not unusual for beautiful women to make a pass at him since he had a beautiful muscled body, tanned skin, was clean shaven and every hair was in place. He had a killer smile and a self-assuredness about himself. When he heard Tricksy shout out to him, he thought, "Here we go again, another
