About this ebook

Sal Matthews has struggled with low-self esteem and health issues all his life. Being a werewolf doesn’t change anything. He’s tried every diet available, but Sal has never really been motivated until he sets his eyes on the dominant werewolf Kal Walker. Every inch of Kal screams dangerous, but Sal can’t keep away.

After their old pack disbanded, Kal Walker and his brothers have a hard time integrating into the New Haven pack. Killing’s the only thing Kal’s good at and peace is a concept he’s been struggling with. He’s been unsure of his purpose until he meets Sal during a monster hunt. The insecure and submissive wolf calls all of his protective animalistic instincts to the surface, especially when a threat puts Sal’s life in danger.

    Prologue

Kal Walker and his brothers, Van and Dev, literally owed Jax Starr and Reed Williams their life. Kal, being oldest at fifteen, took responsibility for Dev and Van because no one else would. Not their uncaring drug-addicted mother, Nancy, and not her pimp Brody, who thought he owned both Nancy and her boys.

Kal, it's getting worse isn’t it? Dev whispered.

At ten, Dev was the youngest and the brother Kal felt he needed to protect. Kal noticed Dev hadn’t even started on his homework. His textbook lay open, but his notebook remained blank. Kal followed Dev’s gaze to the slit in their bedroom door. He walked to the door and closed it, but they could still hear the rise and fall of their mother’s and Brody’s voices.

Kal winced at the obscenities flung here and there. They heard it every day so it should be nothing surprising, but the heated vehemence contained in them made Kal wary. He saw Dev’s worried gaze. Kal plastered on what he hoped was a reassuring smile.

For a second, he debated whether he should bolt the door, but Dev’s worried gaze made him hesitate. Kal hadn’t cared how much that piece of chain cost. Working the extra hours at the garage was worth it in exchange for knowing his brothers could get a good night’s sleep.

Kal knew the environment they lived in wasn’t the best one for his brothers to grow up in, but he could only do so much. The least he could do was take the blows intended for his brothers, but other than that, he was virtually useless.

They’re going to stop arguing sooner or later. Then this shithole is going to be filled with meth heads again. Hopefully, they’ll go somewhere else.

Kal glared at Van, but Van only shrugged.

Van didn’t bother pretending or trying to pretend for Dev’s sake. His backpack remained where he dumped it hours ago, by the floor near the bottom of the bed. He put on his headphones, but Kal still heard his screeching metal music filtering through. Some days Kal really wished he had his own room, but he supposed this way he could keep an eye on his brothers.

You stupid cunt. You have no idea what you’ve done do you? No one messes with that gang, Brody’s voice rose outside again. Kal froze at the sound of glass breaking, another crash and bang followed.

Dev’s eyes grew wide. He got off his chair, but Kal caught his small form before he recklessly barreled out the door.

Mom’s in danger. Let me go, Kal, Dev insisted, punching his small fists into Kal.

Kal’s heart nearly gave out on him seeing Dev run like that. Two months ago, Dev ran barefoot out the door one early morning to
