      Josh and Clarisse:

      After a quiet Christmas, Josh thought that he was in the clear to start his new year at home with his son and wife. There was no thought to how his best friends would be spending it because they hadn’t spent Christmas together. He just assumed that they would end up doing their own thing and then telling each other the wild, or not so wild, adventures they had when they were back at the shop the next day.

      While Josh was putting Damon in his car seat, he felt Clarisse come up behind him and wrap her arms around his waist. Her fingers inched under his t-shirt as her lips landed on his neck. Groaning, he lulled his head to the side so that she had more access to it.

      What are we doing for New Years baby? Clarisse whispered in his ear while her fingers trailed up his abdomen.

      Staying home like we did for Christmas.

      Oh, she said softly. Her hands fell and she took a step back. Okay. Thank you for putting Damon in his car seat. I’ll see you at the shop. I have a few things I have to go do but it shouldn’t take too long.

      Turning around, Josh caught Clarisse’s hand and pulled her to him. He saw the hurt in her eyes and instantly knew that there was something brewing behind those green eyes that she didn’t want to tell anyone. Baby, what’s going on inside that pretty little head of yours?

      Nothing, she muttered as she looked away from him.

      Bullshit. You’ve always been a bad liar, I hope you know that. Now, he gripped her chin and forced her to look at him. What are you thinking? Don’t you dare try and give me that nothing nonsense again.
