In this world the theory of how it all works gives way to the reality of how it really works and Lobo is our tour guide... what makes us hate him one day gives way to the reality that the values he compromises today help him stay alive to work toward a greater good tomorrow. Lobo is the conquistador that helps spread the wealth to the poor while angling to take down powerful drug lords that have become too vicious.
    Fictionalized and based on the life story of a real American Federale that navigated these currents sometimes to within a heartbeat of his life, Lobo survived being tortured by the Mexican Military, his fellow Federales, and 22 gun battles with the Mexican Cartels. He is one of three agents that caught Drug Lord Pablo Acosta in a cross fire that ended his life and the other two agents are dead. American Federale is the gritty true to life version of the Godfather, Sopranos, or Boardwalk Empire.

Russell and Carlin continued to distill the information with the attempt to get law enforcement on board with reopening the cases. What they created can be seen in Chaos Merchants. Carlin set up a meeting through Sheriff Jim McDonnell for Russell to meet with a homicide investigator at the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. Poole and Carlin had uncovered some disturbing information related to the cases that implicated one or more of the Sheriff's in a related attempted murder. Poole felt that reopening the Tupac and Biggie cases would make the Sheriff's shine and avoid embarrassment. When Poole showed up to the meeting he was confronted by investigators into the attempted murder instead of just the promised homicide investigator interested in reopening the cases. Mysteriously Poole suffered a massive heart attack in the meeting and perished before he left the room.       Over Black:

      Sounds of a nightclub.

      INT. NIGHTCLUB – NIGHT

      The vibrant colors of the liquor bottles behind the bar, the people dancing, and a table of the pretty people are a billboard for the seduction of America’s Nightlife. Two lines of cocaine are being formed on a mirror. A straw vacuums one up. A BEAUTIFUL WOMAN, late 20’s, with powder on her nose holds the straw and smiles. An ATTRACTIVE MAN’s smile transforms into a grin. He knows he is getting laid tonight. The Attractive Man uses the straw and vacuums up the remaining line.

      Now we reverse that scene and continue rewinding past the opening scene (the pretty people and liquor bottles) following the cocaine back into a small baggie. The small baggie goes back into a packet of small baggies. Then it becomes part of a brick and then part of a pallet. We continue in reverse as the pallet goes back into the van that transported it across the border.

      EXT. EL PASO BORDER – DAY

      The van is going in reverse through the streets of downtown El Paso. We hold on a billboard with Nancy Reagan that reads, Just Say No!

      SUPER: EL PASO – 1984.

      The van continues back through a Border Patrol checkpoint across the bridge and the Mexican border into Juarez. We follow the van into Downtown Juarez. We see the Kentucky Bar and then the beautiful church.

      ext. juarez mexico - day

      We pull up from Downtown Juarez and see the mountain with The Bible is the Truth – Read It written in white against the sand colored stone. We pan to reveal El Paso, Texas in the background with Juarez still in the foreground. We see the contrast between homes in the barrio of Mexico just south of Interstate 10 and the wealth of America. We continue to push in exploring El Paso as we come to a community of tract homes. A green park set against the desert landscape stands out and we descend upon it to reveal two groups of kids entering from opposite sides. This looks like a rumble.

      EXT. EL PASO PARK – DAY

      The two groups approach each other from the different sides of the park. We sweep around to reveal a slight, young seventeen-year-old leading one group. This is JOVEN, a good-looking Mexican American with an attitude. There is a large BURLY KID leading the other group. Both groups hang behind their leaders and start chanting.

      BOTH GROUPS

      Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight!
