BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!

The alarm clock sounded at six in the morning, Lila reached out and hit the button on the clock and turned off the alarm. She rolled over in her bed and lulled in limbo for a few moments, nerves swirling in her stomach.

This is it, this is the big day she has been waiting for, she is moving out from her parents’ home and into her new place and starting University. She turned over under her pure white covers one last time and read the clock. She wanted just a few more minutes before she had to get out of her warm bed.

Lila! Get up, her mother, Madelaine Rodriguez, called out to her. We have lots of moving to do today! It's the day you've been raving about for the past two months.

Lila knew she hasn't been able to stop talking about her new place since the start of the summer when she found it online. It was a town house about fifteen minutes away from her parent’s house.

She pulled the covers back and stretched her arms out and finally got out of bed.

Okay, mom, I’m up! Lila responded while looking in the dresser for an outfit to wear.

She had packed most of the clothes she wanted to take with her; all that was left were some jean shorts and a fitted white t-shirt. She glanced at some of the boxes that she knew had her clothing in them and wondered if she should pull something else out. She decided not to look in the boxes so she left the shorts and t-shirt out and set them on her bed along with a pair of panties and a bra.

Lila took off her sleeping shirt and pajama pants and set them next to her clothes for the day. She made her way to the bathroom and grabbed a towel from the closet and wrapped herself up.

Just like any other day, she looked at herself in the mirror, deciding what to do with her hair, what makeup she should put on today, wondering if she should put on any at all. She usually doesn't wear makeup but this is a new chapter in her life. She finally felt like an adult, so why not put some on today, she thought.

She turned on the shower and waited for the water to heat up; she hung up her towel on the hook by the shower and hopped in.

Lila knew this is the start of a new adventure in her life and she was really excited but she couldn't shake the nerves. Maybe it was the fact she was starting University and school would be harder. Or maybe she was worried if she'd be able to keep on top of her schoolwork and her job and keep her home clean.

She had always liked her living area to be neat and free of clutter. She didn't think she would be this nervous for moving out, but she figured they would lift after she settled into her new home and got everything arranged and got into the momentum of living on her own.

Lila turned off the shower realizing she'd taken longer than she normally would, and got out. She dried off and pulled her towel around her. She dried her long dark brown hair with the drier and then straightened it. She admired how long it had grown; it was almost down to her hips, just a few more inches she thought to herself.

As she reached for her makeup bag and pulled out her usual beige toned eye shadow she hesitated and grabbed a pink one instead.

Change starts today, She told herself in the mirror.

She applied her pink eye shadow, some black eyeliner and mascara. She finished the look with some bronzer and blush.

As she walked out of the bathroom her mother was just walking past and she turns and looks at her daughter. Wow, you look very beautiful, sweetheart. I like that colour eye shadow.

Wow, did she just get a compliment from her mom? Thanks, mom, Lila said back to her mother.

She went back into her room and looked in the full length mirror on the back of her door.

I guess it does look pretty good, she observed her brown eyes popping against the pink of the eye shadow and liner.

Her olive skin glowed with anticipation of a new start. Lila reached for the bra and panties and slipped them on.

Her breasts we a double D cup, she wasn't the thinnest person around, she was average and she liked to be active. She wasn't very tall, only five foot two inches but it worked for her. Overall, she was very happy with herself, after pulling on her shorts and t-shirt she almost didn't recognize her reflection.

Whoa, she whispered, I guess I do look different.

It had been about a year since she wore any kind of shorter fitting shorts and tighter t-shirts, but she admitted she looked pretty good. She made a mental note to dress in more body flattering clothing this year. No more punk phase, and no more tom-boy jeans and sweaters.

Man, I’ll have to go shopping for new clothes, she giggled to herself.

She walked out of her room and went to the kitchen and began making herself some coffee and toast. When she turned around her realized her mom, Caleb her dad, and Ian her brother, were all staring at her.

Her mom looked proud with awe in her eyes, her dad looked stunned with a what-the-hell-are-you-wearing look on his face, and her brother looked surprised.

Looking good little sis, that looks way better than your sweaters and baggy pants, or all black clothing, Ian said to her.

You're wearing that out in public? her dad said, almost holding his breath for an answer.

Why shouldn’t she, Caleb? her mom told him. We've all been wondering when the day would come that she'd drop the boyish style.

Thanks you guys, Lila said, not expecting this kind of reaction at all. And daddy, really? I'm twenty and we've all seen younger girls wearing next to nothing in high school. Compared to them, I’m a nun.

Everyone in the kitchen burst out in a fit of laughter.

I guess that's true, I just don't want to admit my little girl is all grown up, her dad said, getting up and hugging her.

Ian stood up and said to the family, Ok, now we better hurry and grab the last of your stuff that you want to take to your new place. We'll even help you unpack when we're there.

Lila smiled, she was so lucky to have an awesome family that would help her move into her new place. She was expecting to do most of it herself.

And that's the last box unpacked, Caleb informed everyone.

I have to admit, I’m pretty proud of you sis, Ian hugged his younger sister. Who knows, maybe when I turn twenty two in the spring I’ll start looking for a place like you did.

Thanks Ian, but you and I both know that you won’t be moving out of mom and dads anytime soon.

They stared at each other, Lila laughed and Ian nodded in agreement and shrugged his shoulders.

Well I guess that all of it, now I know we are only a fifteen minute drive away, but if you need anything please let us know, sweetheart, her mom told her.

Okay, I will mom, thank you. And thanks for helping me move, I didn't really need help unpacking, but I appreciate it. I'll miss living with you guys, but it's time to venture out on my own.

All four of them went to the front door and hugged Lila. They said their goodbyes and good lucks.

Lila closed the door and locked it.

She pressed her back to the door and thought to herself.

At last, her new home. She walked from the front entrance to the kitchen and opened the fridge, she hummed, Oh, I guess I have to get some groceries.

And next week will be the first day of class, she told herself.

CHAPTER TWO

The week before class seemed to pass by quickly, with her working at the hospital most evenings, and arranging her new townhouse multiple times until she came to a decision of what looked good.

She felt settled in and ready, she even went shopping for some new clothes that fit her better.

But even with all that she had done to preoccupy herself she still couldn’t get rid of the unsettled feeling inside.

She told herself that if it didn't go away within a few days of class she'd go to her doctors to make sure it wasn't something serious.

On the morning of her first class she got up and headed for a shower. She let herself warm up with the hot water beating down on her body.

It had been an unusually cool evening and she left the windows open for airflow since yesterday was very warm and stuffy.

She felt a shiver run up her spine and she turned and ran the hot water down her back. She turned the water off and reached out for her towel. She hopped out of the shower and towelled off and put on a nice pink bra and panty set.

Damn, that's cute!

She went through her closet and dresser to find an outfit. She settled on a pair of dark blue skinny jeans and nice red v-neck t-shirt that showed a little cleavage.

She straightened her dark hair, and did a neutral eye with liner and mascara, and topped it off with some pink lip gloss.

I'm ready! Gimme whatchya got! she pep talked into her reflection.

She put on her black biker looking boots and her fitted leather jacket just in case it was too cold out today.

She got school her bag ready with her books and laptop inside it, and got in her car and drove to the University.

The University wasn't that far, about a ten minute drive from her new place, so she stopped at a coffee shop on her way to school and grabbed a coffee and sat down inside. The clouds had rolled in overnight.

The coffee shop was right across the street from the University so she figured she could people watch before her first class in half an hour.

She got out her laptop and started typing a memo of things do to for the day when she looked down to pick up her coffee she noticed a guy watching her from the corner of her eye.

He sat two tables away, very stoic, he looked away. Was he even breathing?

He was older, maybe in his early thirties, he had blonde hair cut short and his eyes were as grey and cold as the clouds were outside and they seemed to lack emotion. His skin was as fair as the stark white page on her laptop screen.

He was tall, maybe around six feet she guessed. He looked like he was in shape, judging from the muscles bulging from his plaid shirt rolled up at the arms.

He wasn't unattractive, no he definitely could turn some girls' heads, but Lila sensed there was something off about this man.

His face was very angular, it made him look mean. He finally looked up from his drink, and they made eye contact.

Lila nodded politely and quickly looked away; the uneasy feeling in her stomach that still hadn't left had intensified the split second their eyes met.

Not wanting to have a conversation with this guy she packed up her belongings and made her way to her first class, Animal Anatomy and Physiology.

She got into her car and drove across the street and found a parking spot at the University. She grabbed her books and laptop and began walking to class.

She glanced behind her and noticed the guy from the coffee shop had parked his car too.

It would be her luck that this guy that gave her the heebee jeebees would be in her class. She rounded a corner and noticed her classroom door just a few steps away and she took a careful glance behind her and she couldn't find the older guy anywhere.

Relief washed over her when she realized the creep wasn't in her class so she made her way to a seat near the back corner of the classroom by the window.

She must've been
