    OMAR, THE DISCONTENTED CAT

    Omar was a discontented cat. He had a comfortable home and a velvet cushion to sit on, but in spite of all the things that were done for him, he was most unhappy.

    He was always wishing to be out-doors, running around with the other cats and climbing trees where he could watch the birds, instead of sitting inside of the window on the velvet cushion.

    So every day he watched the birds fly overhead or the soft snowflakes as they fell to the ground. Once in a while a gray or black cat would stroll across the lawn—then Omar felt so sad because he was never allowed to roam around looking for adventure.

    One day as he sat washing his paws and fluffing up his plumey tail, a maid came in to clean the window and when she left the room, O wonder of wonders, the window was open! Omar stretched a cautious paw out on the window edge and looked below.

    It was at least ten feet to the ground!

    Omar was a wee bit frightened but he heard
