      Twist on saying "the dog ate my book". Short story, perfect for kindergarten and primary, due to being able to shake book during story, but junior would get a kick out of it

      This book uses an imaginative concept to add a new dimension to reading. As the book begins, we see that the girl's dog has been eaten by the spine of the book as is goes to the middle of the book. Then everything the girl comes across gets eaten by the book. You have to hold this book in non traditional ways sometimes, the words are big, bold, and don't necessarily follow a normal placement, and it tries to engage the reader in a new way through this. I enjoyed the bright colors and the cartoon pictures this book has. The proportions are all over the place and it is fun. The dog is about twice the size of the girl that is walking it. The main point of this book is to show the non-traditional side of children's literature and to engage readers who may find themselves bored with other books.

      I thought this book was very funny and clever! I was immediately drawn to the bright orange cover and the large font. All of the illustrations in the book were colorful and large as well, which made it fun to read. There were also short sentences on each page, which kept me entertained and interested to see what was going to come next. The story was about a girl named Bella who was walking her dog, and when the dog walked into the crease of the book he disappeared! Bella called for help, but everything and everyone that tried to go help also go sucked into the story. Eventually, Bella went in herself and tried to save all of them. My favorite part of the book was when she sent out a note to the reader telling them to: "put the book on its side and shake it". It was cool because the font and illustrations changed to be vertical to show the reader which way to hold the book. Once the reader shook the book, all of the characters came flying out! I thought this was very clever, new, and interesting concept to a book. I would definitely recommend it to someone, as well as read it to my classroom.

      This book just ate my dog!Bryan O'KeeffeI had never heard of this book before and was excited to read it. The book was not believable at all because of the nature of the story, however the book was still really cute. The little girl who had the dog in the story is believable. She seems like she could be a real little girl in real life. There was not anything other than objects disappearing that led me to believe that she could not be real. I really enjoyed the illustrations with this book. The objects disappearing into the spine of the book was really cute. I also liked that the reader was forced to turn the book upside down and shake the book in order for the objects "to fall back out". I think that the involvement the author creates for the reader makes this book really enjoyable.

      I liked this book a lot because it is a fun and creative book that I think would catch the interest of most children. The illustrations are very good and really help tell the story. I think a child who can not read would be able to tell the main ideas of the story by looking at the pictures. I really enjoyed the part where it says, "Please turn the book around and shake." I think this part is very engaging for children since the text is asking the readers to move the book around and shake it. It is very interactive and not only read in the traditional way. You can tell this book was published recently because books a couple years ago were not as risky with the way they were read.

      I thought this was a great new book! The main message of the book was actually to show readers that reading is fun, and can have a silly twist to it! The book flipped upside-down, turned sideways, had real cool graphics, and even looked very realistic the way it "ate the dog."I liked this book also because the illustrations were popping right out of the page, which matched the bold style of writing that the author took as an approach. The writing captivated me right from the beginning, too, and I think this is a plus for young readers to grab their attention right away.Overall this book won it's five stars from me. It just goes to show how reading can be fun, and that books serve many purposes and not always to educate or inform to the upmost extent.
