About this ebook

The votes are in--it's a Bad Kitty landslide!

It's time to elect a new president of the Neighborhood Cat Coalition! Who will win the election? The candidate chosen by the kitties on the right side of the street or the candidate chosen by the kitties on the left side of the street? When election time rolls around, one candidate (guess who?) will discover that she never bothered to register to vote and the entire election will be decided by a surprise, last minute absentee ballot sent by Old Kitty.

This book is about a kitty cat that runs for president after another cat's time is up. This is book is very comical and explains the election process in a waythat children can understand. Instead of having partysides they change it to kitties from two different sidesof the streets.

Summary:A graphic novel about Bad Kitty who is one of the candidates to run for the presidential of Neighborhood Cat Cub. Bad Kitty knows nothing about elections so throughout the book he learns the different steps and terms necessary to run for president. Bad Kitty has one opponent who is Big Kitty. At the end Bad Kitty is not elected to be president and Big Kitty is not elected to be president. Strange Kitty is elected to be president even though he did not run a campaign he had two votes in his favor, which was the majority votes.Comments:I like how this graphic model is not only a story about Bad Kitty running for president but it also provides information on elections and everything that has to do with elections. At the end of the book it provides the reader with definitions of the different political terms used throughout the novel. The novel also includes random fact pages that i think is good so that the reader could better comprehend.

A graphic novel about Bad Kitty running for president of the Neighborhood Cat Coalition. The novel goes through the entire election process and includes background information for the reader on the process and key vocabulary terms. I was surprised by the humor and actually enjoying it as I read it. I don't think its good for young readers in terms of the amount of text, but children would definitely find it funny and gain some knowledge about the politics in the United States. It is a quick read and the cheeky humor convinced me to continue reading. I will most likely have a couple of these in my classroom for even my younger readers to look at and practice with.

Nick Buel's Bad Kitty for President is out just in time for the presidential race this year. Bad Kitty for President includes the steps necessary to become president in easy to understand language and graphic novel format with a character that elementary students are already familiar with and enjoy. The students will enjoy most of the jokes, though many of them target higher-level humor that may appeal to middle school students. Bad Kitty runs for neighborhood president when he decides something needs to be done about the stray cat issue. All the neighborhood cats join the race, as well. The winner is determined by who can best kiss the baby. For those students who have a good grasp of a presidential race, the book will be fun and interesting, others may not understand the book, or it may confuse them. I would recommend this book for upper elementary or middle school students. The bad actions and humor will definitely appeal to their sense of humor. Received Galley from NetGalley.com
