About this ebook

Business is business. Even if you have to take one ailing business and break it in to a few to make a profit then that is what must be done. That was exactly the way Roz thought. At times it was tough. But she was driven. She was a business woman through and through. She had no ties. And she could not sit still. She had a personal goal and she would push to achieve it.

Francois was happy with his life. His two sons and himself were rather happy the way they were. Until that Saturday morning when they met Roz. She was a ball of fun. At times hilarious but other times very serious. Francois and his family would come to know Roz and each and every one of her habits.

Roz let nothing and no one stand in her way. Francois soon realized that when he did try to stand in her way. But . . . business is business!

    CHAPTER 1

Francois looked over at the woman and smiled. She was absolutely beautiful. She wore the most casual of clothes but she was well groomed. Every hair on her head was perfectly in place. Her nails were manicured and her face was beautifully but skillfully made up. Francois could see that she wasn’t a run of the mill little lady. There was something very special about her. And she was gorgeous. The way she held her wine glass showed she had a lot of class. He noticed she didn’t wear any rings or jewelry. She only wore little diamond studs in her ears and her watch. He listened to the conversations taking place around him. He looked at Marcelle and Pierre his sons. They were both engrossed in their menus.

    Christian sniggered.

The news is not good. She arrives on Monday. No way am I even going to listen to what she has to say. We can do without the interference. Gregory nodded.

    A woman. Of all things.

I run my department the way I see fit. I don’t care whether she has bought the company. I do things my way. Rozimera Escargot. Sounds like a Portuguese snail.

Roz looked at her menu and listened to the two men. She looked at Benjamin.

Take no notice Ben. Boy are we in for a big fat surprise. He smiled.

    Don’t you get cross?

Been in this situation so many times over. Big surprise coming. That company is going to be sectioned off and sold. Benjamin nodded as they carried on listening.

And I can tell you another thing. I don’t like the likes of them. Never have and never will. Gregory nodded as Christian rambled.

I run my department as I see fit. Not her. Christian nodded again.

I don’t even know why they sold. We were doing okay.

Yeah. Must be a reason though. Makes a person wonder.

Francois frowned as he listened to the two men. There seemed to be a problem at work. He looked over and stared as the beautiful woman got up from the table.

Excuse me Benjamin. She slowly got up and walked over to Christian and Gregory. She leaned over and put her elbows on the table. She held her chin in her hands. She looked at Francois and winked. She turned towards Christian.

Hi. They both looked at her and smiled.

Can I let you in on a little secret? They both nodded and leaned closer.

My name is Roz. Rozimera Escargot. With a silent T. On Monday morning go straight to your desk. Take your personal belongings. And fuck off. Now you get my drift? She smiled and straightened up. She walked back to her table and sat down with Benjamin.

Francois looked away and burst in to laughter. Marcelle chuckled.

Well, well, well. If that isn’t telling it like it is I don’t know. Pierre grinned and turned and looked at Roz as she sat down. He looked at the two men. Francois stifled his laughter.

Oh my gosh. I did not see that coming. Oh I do like her style. Yee gads and little apples. Now that is what I call perfect. Absolutely appropriate and deserving. Marcelle chuckled.

Darn but that was good. Francois chuckled.

Christian and Gregory were stunned. They looked at each other. They both looked over at Roz. Roz smiled.

Thank you for lunch Ben. They both got up. She leaned over and kissed Benjamin.

Nice outing. He smiled and walked off. She smiled and turned to look at Christian and Gregory and nodded and smiled. She looked over at Francois and he nodded and smiled. She smiled as she turned and walked out of the restaurant. She walked past the side of the restaurant. They both stared at her. She was the tiniest little woman. She had a pair of skin tight jeans on with a pair of sneakers. She wore a little vest with a slogan on the front. She gurgled with laughter and stopped and whistled.

She stood right in front of Francois and the boys. Only the railing of the restaurant was between them.

Two little tots ran towards her. She hugged and kissed them.

Aunty Roz! She chuckled as she went down and sat on her haunches.

And where are you off to?

    We are going shopping!

Oh you go and enjoy! She got up and hugged David and Arlene.

    Benjamin just left.

Gosh it is so good to have you back home. She chuckled and nodded.

I go with the flow. Arlene smiled.

So, Monday, your next project. Roz smiled and nodded.

Still debating. Make it or break it.

What would be better for you?

    Break it. David nodded.

What would be more beneficial to the company?

To the company? Break it. To the staff? I am leaning on the break it side.

    How would you do that?

Oh I have my methods. David nodded.

Are you going to be there on Monday? Roz nodded.

I am. I will spend the week and see how I feel. If I can mend it I will. But if I feel differently it will be sectioned off and sold. Arlene smiled.

Rather you than me. Did you get it for a bargain?

Oh huge. David smiled and nodded.

Christian and Gregory looked at each other.

I started this mess. I will go and apologize. Gregory shook his head.

Just leave it. Christian got up and walked out of the restaurant. He followed Roz as she walked.

Excuse me. Miss Escargot. Roz turned and looked at Christian.

    Yes?

I would like to apologize. I said some horrid things there.

You did. And now you want to suck up and apologize.

    I guess. She nodded.

    Mister Heese? He nodded.

I don’t take nonsense from little boys. And I don’t take nonsense from men who want to act like little boys. He nodded.

Step out of line, my friend, and you will find yourself out on the street. With me?

    Yes Ma’am. She nodded.

Convey the message to Mister Brown. One little comment from either of you and you will vacate the premises. He nodded.

Thank you Ma’am. She nodded and turned and walked off.

Francois smiled as he listened to every single word that she said to the gent. He looked at Marcelle and Pierre.

How old do you think she is?

She looks our age Dad. He nodded and smiled.

Can I bring her home? They both chuckled and nodded. They all watched her and grinned.

    Hoi Henderson!

Hey the sista from another mista! Roz gurgled with laughter. She walked over and hugged Henry.

Where is that gorgeous wife of yours? Emily walked up towards them.

I am going to explode! Roz hugged her.

    Emily! She giggled.

Darn did you swallow the whole donut! Emily gurgled with laughter. She hugged Roz.

It is so good to see you!

    Don’t lie! Emily grinned.

    We missed you!

So you decided to get knocked up while you waited for me to get home. That is disgusting! Emily gurgled with laughter and held her stomach as she shook from laughing.

Francois grinned and shook his head. Pierre sat and laughed. Roz looked over.

Hoi! Are you eavesdropping! Francois cracked up in laughter. Roz grinned.

Behave! She pointed at them all.

We heard you were coming home. We really did miss you.

    Yeah, yeah. Emily chuckled.

How is the company doing, Henderson?

Flippin’ marvelous. We hit ten this month.

Holy flippin’ maroni! Emily gurgled with laughter.

When is this little person due?

    Any day now.

And you have her traipsing around the mall! Henderson you are such a sleaze!

Francois let rip with a loud laugh. Roz looked over.

What is so funny! He is! The poor woman. This is Henry and Emily. And that is Richard Gere inside there.

Oh I bloody well hope not! Emily gave a little giggle.

He has had a name change.

    Oh what now?

    Mad Max.

Really! Sean Connery? Henry gurgled with laughter.

    No you idiot.

Michael Douglas? Emily roared with laughter.

Where do you come from? Mel Gibson!

Oh I like him. Can you cough him up? She stood and folded her arms and looked at Emily as if waiting for something to happen. Emily gurgled with laughter.

    Rozimera!

Ugh! Who said that! Henry grinned.

    Rozimera I heard that!

Oh flip it can only be my mother! Hey Ma!

Don’t hey Ma me! Rozimera is such a lovely name! Roz almost growled.

Emily swallowed Mel Gibson whole and she won’t spit him out! Paul shook his head.

Hey Dad! What are you all doing here?

We heard you were leaving the mall. We thought it perfect timing to arrive. We thought you had already left. Roz grinned.

    Emily looked over.

Is that a glass of water? Pierre passed the glass over and Emily took a sip.

    Thank you. Marcelle grinned.

    Who are you?

    Francois, Marcelle and Pierre.

Nice to meet you. I am Emily and this is my husband Henry. Henderson. And that is Paul and Lucy. They all shook hands with Francois and the boys.

And that is Roz. Francois smiled.

    Nice to meet you.

Roz where are you off to?

    Home.

But where is your helmet and your jacket?

Who needs a helmet and a jacket?

Roz you are going to get such a hiding.

Chill. I am on my way to collect them. I can’t walk around with a jacket and a helmet. People will think I am a hells angel. Paul shook his head.

I didn’t see where you parked your bike.

    On the pavement.

You are supposed to park in a parking.

There weren’t any. So I improvised.

You are going to land up in a cell and we are not going to bail you out. Again.

    That was not my fault!

Yes it was! You cost me an arm and a leg.

I was innocent. It was that idiot who was wrong.

    Hey Miss Escargot!

Hello Sergeant Rooney! He grinned as he walked by.

It was him! Sergeant Rooney shook his head and chuckled.

If you didn’t report your car as stolen I would never have been arrested in the first place.

Next time leave a note that says stole your car.

You left the keys on the counter for me.

Roz as a child you were a worry.

You should see things from my perspective. Not good. Hey I have to go. Have you spat him out yet? Emily groaned.

    Francois gurgled with laughter.

Hoi! We are watching you. Have you made your selection yet?

Not as yet. We are busy with the live entertainment. Henry erupted in laughter.

    The comedy show? Francois chuckled.

Hey I heard a classic. Two blondes. One on either side of the river. The one yells. Hey! How do you get to the other side? The woman yells. You are on the other side! They all stood and laughed. Pierre wiped his eyes as he laughed.

Okay. I have to go. Got to see the bank manager.

    Dressed like that!

Hey I just want to stand at the window and see what he looks like. I didn’t say I have an appointment with him.

Why do you want to see him?

I just want to see how healthy he is looking.

You have made that man age! Roz gurgled with laughter.

Hey see you at home. Bring take a ways.

We will do no such thing.

I really feel like a take a way. Lucy shook her head.

Rozimera Escargot! She gurgled with laughter as she waved and walked off.

    Emily smiled.

Do you have her number? She took her cellphone and handed it to Francois.

I don’t have the energy. Francois grinned as he took the number and pumped it in to his cell phone. He handed the phone back to Emily.

I thank you. Lucy looked over.

    How are you doing Emily?

Much better. But I do need the bathroom. They all smiled as they hugged each other and walked off in different directions.

Marcelle and Pierre looked at Francois.

    Dad?

Hell! What an amazing woman! They all chuckled. Francois looked over at Christian.

Sorry gents. What company are you with?

    Gargon Oil.

Thanks. Francois smiled. He spoke quietly.

Which has just been sold off. The new owner takes over on Monday. They both smiled and nodded. They all heard the sound of a Harley.

And that is the owner that you hear. They all chuckled. Francois smiled as he looked at his phone. He had saved her number with the photograph that he had quietly taken of Roz. He looked at the photograph. He had zoomed in without her realizing. She had such a nice smile. He looked up at Marcelle.

    Naughty little smile that Dad.

    Just something about that woman.

I think that little woman is rather powerful. You look at her and you see a normal person. But I think in business she is quite something.

And that is what I like Pierre. Someone who is down to earth and doesn’t throw her weight around. Business is business.

So what are you going to do with her number Dad?

Take her out for coffee some time.

Dad I think she is kind of popular.

She is. She has my approval. Marcelle and Pierre both chuckled.

    CHAPTER 2

Francois looked at his lunch and smiled. There was something about Roz that really appealed to him. He felt excited. He had never felt the way he had right at that moment. When they were all chatting away and laughing. And he and the boys had been included in the conversation. She had somehow drawn them in. Oh he had noticed her looking at him. Francois tucked in to his lunch. All he could think about was Roz.

Francois looked over at Christian’s table. He hadn’t even noticed them getting up and walking off. He looked up at Marcelle and Pierre.

What if. Marcelle smiled and nodded.

Dad. In all these years. You haven’t even dated. I don’t see a problem if you start now. Pierre nodded.

    I really don’t mind Dad.

But not just anybody. It has to be her. Marcelle chuckled and nodded.

Oh you are going to itch to make that first call. Francois gurgled with laughter.

Roz parked her bike under the trees in front of the house. She walked in to the house and went straight to
