About this ebook
A short story collection by Rod Martinez containing three short stories that will mess with your head:
DANGERSTREET
Fifteen year old Jonathan Torres is an only child, a child who stays at home much of his time, in his room playing and programming computer games. His immensely creative imagination spawns many episodes between he and his games, but sometimes a vivid imagination isn't always a virtue, as Jonathan finds. Treading on the fine line between reality and fantasy, he loses himself in an adventure of dangerous proportions... with his wit and knowledge of the game his only weapons.
MR. MOORE
A young child reminisces within himself the fun and joys during his brief friendship with Mr. Moore, who has just passed away
SECRET PLACE
Seven year old Andy Meeks is faced with a dilemma. His grandfather lies on his deathbed succumbing to a cancer that slowly eats away. Andy, very emotionally attached to his grandfather, pleads with him to divulge the location of "The Secret Place", a story that he'd recite to the little boy where there was an old man who healed people. Unknown to his parents, the determined child sets off to find the old man and the "Secret Place"... to save his beloved grandfather from a slow, painful death.
Rod Martinez
Rod was born and raised in Tampa, Florida and was attracted to words at an early age. He wrote his first book "The Boy Who Liked To Read" (about himself) with construction paper and pencil in the grade school on his own – wasn't a class assignment. His teacher then decided to keep the masterpiece and show other students in class what they could do if they "applied" themselves. Later in life, Rod discovered comic books and was determined to work for Stan Lee once he was old enough. As a student in school he was taken to reading, writing and drawing and by high-school had completed several comic books of his own creation. It was his English teacher in high school that pulled him aside and told him "You should delve into short story writing, give the comic books a rest." He listened. Rod got into writing prose and fiction, but only as a part-time hobby, wasn't till his later adult years that he started to take it seriously, having written a middle-grade fiction adventure titled "The Juniors" (it was a challenge from his son) that was picked up by a publisher. He quickly decided that he wanted to do this for the rest of his life.

PREFACE:
This book is something I have wanted to do for a while, collect some of my short stories and combine them into an anthology. You might notice some similarities in the stories and I’ll wait until you’re finished to bring those up – but if you pay attention you may catch them.
Enjoy,

DANGER STREET
One more sharp left turn and it's freedom! I will have shaken off the Drug Lord chasing me and have escaped with a load of his cash. C'mon car, don't give up on me now!
Sure enough, just upon reaching the corner, the car began to sputter. It cackled and coughed like an old smoker with the flu.
Come on... come on!
he screamed frantically.
Glancing up at the rear view mirror, he could see them closing in, gun barrels aiming his way.
This isn't the way to die, I'm only 15 years old!
They were closing in. One thing to do, abandon the car, hoof it fast and hard. Reaching over behind him, he grabbed the sachet, shoved open the door and did his best Carl Lewis. In seconds he was feet away, and witnessed his car ram helplessly into the brick convenience store. The pursuing car skidded to a stop just inches away from him. Two tall, mean and angry thugs hopped out of the car to cross his path. Jonathan came to a grinding halt. Staring up and down his opponents, several thoughts entertained him.
They won't shoot me, I'm a fifteen year old - but then again, I did make off with their dirty money. I have my mission though, to bring it, and possibly them, in to the authorities, and I'm sure that doesn't ride well with them! Maybe if I run the old 'only child' routine on them they'll go easy on me.
"The gig is up, Jonathan,
