As long as I can remember I have always loved everything and anything to do with the romance genre. Enjoying writing, reading and watching a wide range of love stories. I am a true romantic at heart! So after studying for a philosophy degree and then going on to work in a corporate job in advertising, I decided to reconnect with my passion again! I now write mainly romance short stories, with the aim to share all of my ideas with others who also have an interest in romantic fiction. I write in a range of romance subgenres including erotic romance, contemporary, sweet, paranormal/fantasy fiction and historical. I hope to continue writing as long as my ideas keep flowing out from my mind. In early 2014 I experienced my own personal love story, when I married my one true love. I now live together with my husband in London.

Chapter 1
‘Freddie, what took you so long?!’ Caroline turned with excitement as she heard the door open.
‘It’s you!’ Caroline’s large smile left her face immediately as she was confronted with the towering and powerful frame of the Duke of Sunderland, Freddie’s older brother.
‘Where’s Freddie?’ Caroline asked without thinking, disappointment and surprise in her voice.
‘I am sorry to inform you, but my brother will not be making his appointment with you today,’ the Duke responded calmly in his deep, rich voice, ‘nor will he be meeting with you any other time, for that matter.’
‘Oh, I just bet you’re sorry. Please spare me the polite façade, I know you’re far from unhappy with the fact that your brother didn’t turn up to see me today. And I have no doubt that you planned all of this. You stopped Freddie from coming to see me, but I’ll tell you now: you can’t keep Freddie or I away from each other forever, even you don’t have that much power,’ Caroline spoke in complete frustration. She was itching to slap the arrogant expression from his face.
‘Fine, Miss Jacob. You’re looking for the truth, so I will oblige you. As you’ve already guessed, I intervened when I found out about your plan to elope, and I did so with a clear conscience, as I still remain with now,’ he spoke flatly.
‘How can you be so smug? I suppose you can’t understand what you’ve done, since you have no heart to speak of,’ Caroline accused.
‘Miss Jacob, I would not describe myself as smug, although you are entitled to hold that opinion of me. If I appear smug, it is because I am only happy—happy that my brother, who is far from ready for marriage of any kind in both age and mind, will escape the treacherous claws of an over-ambitious gold digger only interested in her personal gain at the expense of others,’ the Duke looked directly at Caroline with his dark, intense eyes.
‘How dare you?’ Caroline raised her voice, ‘you know nothing about me.’
‘I know enough . . . that you are the type of woman that is able to seduce and entrap a young, rich buck with your womanly assets,’ the Duke spoke coldly as he ran his gaze casually down from the perfectly formed face that housed her large big blue eyes, a little button nose, and full pink lips to her shapely body, his brown eyes darkening as he did so.
Caroline exerted all of her control to stop from flinching at his inspection. She looked him full in the eyes, trying to keep some semblance of her pride.
‘And if I am wrong as you would have me to believe, then tell me this: What type of unmarried woman would agree to meet a man alone in a private room, both in the evening and in secrecy?’ He questioned.
‘I don’t care what you think of me. I don’t have to explain myself to you. I only wish to talk to Freddie,’ Caroline spoke stubbornly.
‘Well, you’ll be waiting a long while to do so,’ the Duke said confidently.
‘What do you mean by that?’ Caroline felt her worry and desperation increase tenfold, knowing that the Duke was concealing something very important from her.
‘I mean that it will be very hard for you to speak to him directly, not when he is only just waking up, dazed and with a headache no doubt, on a ship that has set sail to the Caribbean. I do not expect him to be back in England for at least a year, which should give him more than enough time to rethink any rash plans he once had.’
‘You didn’t! How could you, tricking your own brother like that? And you dare to criticize and judge me?’ Caroline was beside herself, not knowing what do to now that she had learned of Freddie’s whereabouts.
‘No, Miss Jacob, we are very different. Bundling my brother off to sea while he was intoxicated was for his own good. You, on the other hand, tricked him only for your own selfish gain.’
‘Will that be all, My Lord?’ Caroline felt defeated. She no longer had the energy to fight with the Duke.
‘Sorry, Miss Jacobs. Could you please elaborate on what you mean?’
‘I mean, have you said everything you came here to say to me?’ She willed herself to remain calm.
‘Yes, I have no more to tell you,’ the Duke conceded.
‘Then please, My Lord, permit me some privacy. I would like it if you left now so I can be alone,’ Caroline tried unsuccessfully to keep her anguish from her voice as she turned away from him to look at the empty room behind her where she had just moments ago waited with excitement and optimism for her future.
‘Miss Jacob.’
Caroline didn’t respond at first.
‘Miss Jacob, I understand that this has all come as a shock to you, no doubt, to know that your plans have been thwarted.’
‘What do you care, My Lord?’
‘I understand that this is a change in fortune for you, with you expecting a wealthier existence riding my brother’s coattails. Although I will not go as far as promising you what my brother foolishly did, I can offer you an arrangement that will soften the blow of your disappointment.’
Caroline turned to look up at the Duke’s face. After everything he said and accused her of, was he really trying to extend some much needed help?
‘Your feminine qualities have not escaped me. I can see what my younger brother saw in you, and I would
