About this ebook

'The musician had begun again, a guitar solo this time, his dark head bent low and lovingly over the instrument, absorbed in it. Margaret found herself watching him. She found her gaze riveted to his wrist and hand as it moved on the guitar, her attention caught by the brown skin against the pale blue of his jacket, the long, strong fingers moving so surely and confidently.'

Margaret is in her mid thirties, divorced, depressed and working in property sales on Tenerife. Only a few weeks ago, she left wintry Glasgow to make a new life for herself in the sunny Canary Isles. That was the idea at the time, but now she's not so sure. You take yourself with you wherever you go, and she's as lonely and unhappy as she ever was.

Luis is a musician and a chef from the nearby island of La Gomera. He plays the guitar and sings traditional songs in the bar where the property crowd spend their evenings. But he has much more serious dreams and ambitions, until he is brought up short by his unexpected but overwhelming attraction to Margaret.

The feeling turns out to be mutual. But love at first sight is never easy, and complications ensue.

Orange Blossom Love is a very grown up love story from award winning novelist and playwright Catherine Czerkawska. This is a big, intelligent and appealing novel about an irresistible mutual attraction followed by an impulsive cross cultural marriage - and what happens after.

It's a sexy thought-provoking read, whether you're beside a cosy fire or on holiday in the sun. It's also full of the author's real affection for the beautiful Canary Isles.

Following on from this, The Last Lancer is a personal account of loss and survival in Poland and Ukraine, a book with a tragic resonance, given the current situation in that country.  Catherine's stage plays include Wormwood, about the Chernobyl disaster, and Quartz, both commissioned by Edinburgh’s Traverse Theatre. She has also written more than 100 hours of drama for BBC Radio 4. She spent four years as Royal Literary Fund Writing Fellow at the University of the West of Scotland and when not writing, collects and deals in the antique textiles that occasionally find their way into her fiction.
