About this ebook

Home is where the heart is

Welcome back to Grace Valley, California, where the best things in life never change

Here in this peaceful community, folks look out for one another like family, though sometimes a little too well.

In a town like this, it's hard to keep a secret – though

Dr. June Hudson has managed to keep one heck of a humdinger

Though visits from her secret lover, undercover DEA agent Jim Post, are as clandestine as they are passionate, somehow it fits with her demanding schedule as the town's doctor – a calling that requires an innate ability to exist on caffeine, sticky buns and nerves of steel.

But how can a secret lover compete with a flesh–and– blood heartthrob from her past? June's old flame has just returned to town after twenty years – and he's divorced. June is seriously rattled. So when the town's most devoted wife takes buckshot to her husband and some human bones turn up in her aunt Myrna's backyard, she's almost happy for the distraction.

Sooner or later, love will have its way in Grace Valley.

It always does.

Very much a continuation of the first book in the series centering around Dr June with a bit of her romance with undercover DEA agent Jim and a returning high school boyfriend newly divorced. But more so it's an absorbing story about the people of Grave Valley ... Aunt Mynra, Dr John, Cheif Toopeek, Clarence & Jurea, Daniel & Blythe, Birdie, etc

SPOILER ALERT: I think the last scene of this might be one of my most favorite ever -- romantic, sweet... beautiful. With that said, however (and the back of the book description notwithstanding) I wouldn't say this is a typical romance. The trilogy itself I think serves as the romance, and this is more a bridge between the first and third books in the series. But that doesn't mean that I didn't really enjoy this book. Though few and far between, the scenes between June and Jim provided the foundation for what I expect happens in book #3. (And the love triangle aspect was fairly minimal, which was just fine by me.) What this book was mostly about was the town itself, the relationships between others within it (all in themselves meaty enough to keep my interest), and June's own journey. If you're looking for a romance, this might not be the book for you. But if you're interested in a nice, solid story about small town life, than I'd recommend it highly.

Grace Valley is a town with many secrets. It is your typical small town where everyone knows everyone and news or rumor travels fast. One of the towns doctors, June, will learn to overcome past heartbreak and love again. Another family, The Mulls, come into the 21st century and deal with the aftermath of war and physical trauma. Two couples, the Stones and the Dicksons, weather storms in their marriages due to old beliefs of women staying at home or working. Then there is Myrna Claypool the town's eccentric mystery/gothic/thriller novelist who has her own secrets and will have to confront what the truth really is. This book covers past, future, love, heartbreak, loss and mystery all in one package. A good rainy day read.

June, a small town doctor, is faced with a challenge – how to react when her high school sweetheart - the one who broke her heart – returns to town? And how can she keep the town from butting in without telling her secret: she’s been having secret trysts with an undercover DEA agent? Okay, but the Virgin River books are a huge improvement…
