About this ebook

Will her killer fashion sense prove fatal?

Carlotta Wren's life hasn't turned out as she'd planned. She didn't plan for her parents to skip bail for a white–collar crime, leaving her to raise her brother. She didn't plan on having the silver spoon ripped from her mouth and forgoing college to work retail. She didn't plan on her blue–blood fiancé dumping her. And she didn't plan on still being single ten years later, working at Neiman Marcus, with no idea where her fugitive parents are.

She's coping. Until…
…her lovable brother is arrested, and the hunky cop decides to reopen her parents' case.
…her brother becomes a body mover for the morgue and his sexy boss gets Carlotta involved.
…her former fiancé's wife is murdered, fingering Carlotta.

With three men in her life, Carlotta has added motivation to help bag a murderer to keep her own well–dressed body from being next on the list!

Fans of Stephanie Bond may remember Carlotta Wren and her brother, Wesley, from the “Party Crashers” novel. I am delighted to see Bond continue with the characters, as that is the one novel in her backlist where I feel that she left readers hanging. What happened to Hannah? Jolie? Carlotta? Bond expertly draws characters that the readers would want to get to know. Carlotta is a bit wonderful in that all of the age appropriate single men in the novel are enamoured of her (those who like the ladies). She’s also quite the enabler when it comes to young Wesley. She is financially unstable and deeply caring of her brother who furthers their financial instability. She is the complete written package. A real character with really bad judgment complicated by really bad luck. The mystery plot was interesting. While the resolution came a bit out of nowhere it was logical that Carlotta would be a suspect. What was not logical was how close she was permitted to the crime scenes especially in light of her potential suspicion. Coop, a disgraced M.E. who moves bodies for his uncle’s funeral home would only get her so far and never as far as the investigation. What I didn’t find creditable is that a man who is 30+ years old and married would still be mooning and pining over a woman he dated in high school no matter how he felt he wronged her. Also hard to believe is that a 30+ year old woman with the sort of financial challenges that Carlotta had faced would hold on to a very expensive engagement ring for 10 years. I can see why Peter would play a role in the first novel but not why Bond would renew the romantic tension when she has two other viable candidates in the wings. Beyond believability, does the character really need three potential beaus?Despite the 384 page length, “Body Movers” was a quick and fun read. Be prepared to invest yourself for the long haul on this one. Currently there are six novels in the “Body Movers” series. I own them all and have already blasted through the second (review pending) and started the third. Whether you read this novel or any other in Bond’s backlist, she is an author worth checking out.

Billed as a "sexy mystery," this novel follows Atlanta sales clerk Carlotta Wren as she becomes involved in the investigation of the death of Angela Ashford, a former friend who had married Carlotta's former fiancee. Could her former lover, Peter Ashford, be guilty of murder? Most of the chapters are told from Carlotta's point of view, but some are told from the point of view of her 19-year old brother, Wesley, who's on probation for hacking into the city's computer files and who owes lots of money for gambling debts. Wesley has recently secured a job helping transport bodies to the morgue, hence the title of the novel. Carlotta, for so long without a man in her life, suddenly finds herself the center of attention, as her ex-fiancee, a police detective, and Wesley's boss all take an interest in her. Well written and enjoyable.

This is a light mystery. Lots of "suspense", although I can not say I really like the main character...she's too co-dependent on her immature ,selfish, moronic brother who is a total Screw-up (he has No redeeming qualities what-so-ever) who proves himself to be an even bigger Jerk in this installment.

There is romance, big-name store shopping, a mortician (hence "Body Movers"), AWOL parents come back, ex-fiance, a goth best friend, and a hottie detective.

The story went back and forth between Carlotta & her brother Wesley...creating some of the suspense. A "Light" mystery, considering it is mainly chick-lit.

I am really glad I read the reviews on this book or I would have put it down after the first 80 pages or so. It was really drawn out and alot of it could have been removed. That being said I really enjoyed the rest of it! I will be getting the next installment and will try to read it as I did the first one, without any reservations. I really hope the rest of the books are good.

I could have forgiven this as a "Please buy the next one to find out what happens mainly because I really can't write and I need the money" series book if the plot had been interesting and the characters more than one dimensional nitwits. Esp the Nitwit part.

The book is so meaty to read, I blew thru all 6 of them in one sitting. That's saying a lot. A Jack Reacher will take me an evening.

A cozy mystery where the plot centers around the poor, no more rich girl who has more weird things happen to her that is normal. Now Carlotta and her brother Wesley are in the dead body moving business. A mystery within a mystery has me looking for more in this series.

I'd been planning on reading this book for quite awhile, and finally decided to pick it up. Honestly, I wasn't really expecting much from it. I figured it would be just another kooky knockoff of the Stephanie Plum books. While this was funny and cute, it was also a lot more real. Not so much in the story-line, but in the characters. We really got to know and understand Carlotta and Wesley. While their decisions were definitely not always good ones or smart ones, you really understand where they're coming from. I really enjoyed all the main characters in this book and the secondary characters as well. It's full of super hunky guys that have interesting stories themselves. The relationship between Carlotta and Wesley was really sweet, and I think it really set this book apart from other similar ones. The mystery was even pretty good. Overall, I just loved this book. I really can't wait to read more in this series and am super bummed that the second one is not in at my library right now. :(

Stop!! Stop!!. I can hear all my friends yelling already. Eric, why are you reading this crap? (Well, actually, I'm listening to it.) Hey, it's like watching TV. I started this series because it was recommended to those who like the Stephanie Plum series, and I have to admit Grandma can be hysterically funny. There are some resemblances, and the scene in the funeral home is a stitch, especially Carlotta's friend Hannah, who quite loudly starts making remarks about the funeral home director, "cold hands? that means a big schlong, right?" or when hearing how awful it is to drown, begs to differ, insisting that the worst way to go is in a trash compactor. Silly, but nice mindless mystery for listening while snowplowing or mowing grass.

While not as fast paced as Janet Evanovich or Lois Greiman, it was still a good read with family drama, romance, and mystery.

Body Movers was really cute! Reminded me a bit of the Stephanie Plum series. Carlotta is your average girl with above average problems. There is the romance and mystery. Cute chick lit!

Picked this one up based on a booklist recommendation that the style was similar to Evanovich’s Plum series. If by “similar,” they mean books with pages, then I would agree. The author decided to top Evanovich by having three romance interests instead of two. Yeah, not a great idea. It makes the heroine look like a desparate ‘ho-bag with the hots for any good looking guy in her path. Mostly because the only good looking guys in the book are the three she lusts after and the gay co-worker. For someone who is 27 years old and has raised her younger brother for ten years, Carlotta comes across as ridiculously immature and naive. In spite of her salesclerk’s commission, she seems to neglect her financial responsibilities like paying the bills in favor of having an amazing wardrobe. All while heaping resentment and anger on her parents for abandoning them after her stockbroker father stole from clients. Carlotta is a heap of hypocritical maturity issues who quickly becomes tiresome. The most interesting character is her brother, who is also the “body mover” from the title - another bizarre misdirection. I’m willing to try the second book in the series, but it will require a lot of improvement to keep me going on the series.
