About this ebook

No strings...no regrets...and no going back.

I didn't think he wanted me. And I wasn't about to get involved with him, not after what I'd heard.

Alex Kennedy was tall, dark and unbearably hot, but I've been burned before. Maybe it was stupid of me to offer, but he needed a place to crash and I needed to pay the rent. But now he's my tenant...with benefits. Now that we've crossed that line, I can't seem to find my way back.

Except I can't give my heart to a man who's so...unconventional. His last relationship was with a married couple. It's enough that my ex–fiancé preferred men – I won't take that chance again no matter how much my body thrives on Alex's touch. I can't risk it, but I can't resist it, either.

Alex can be very convincing when he wants something.

And he wants me.

I really liked this erotic story that realistically ventured into differences in race, religion and sexual orientation. Black photographer Olivia meets Alex who 'doesn't like girls' at a Chrismukkah party hosted by her gay ex-fiance. I just wished I'd read Tempted first.

This is my favorite of Megan Hart's books thus far. Olivia and Alex are realistically painted; two believable, nuanced adults embarking on a new relationship. Their personal lives are about as complicated as can be, and if anything tested my credulity it was their respective pasts. That, and what felt like a rushed, manufactured confrontation just before an abrupt ending. This conflict felt much more formulaic than the "getting to know you" growing pains that had preceded it. Hart beautifully writes that familiar tension of opening up to someone, falling in love, and maintaining that affection through the trials real life. I would have loved this book all the more if that day to day life was all the conflict it contained. Then again, I have not read the preceding book which introduces Alex, an oversight I look forward to correcting. Maybe coming back to NAKED with Alex's introduction in mind, I'll have a different opinion.

2.5 starsThe blurb, unfortunately, isn't very accurate. Plenty of time and plenty of sex have passed since the events of Tempted and Alex and Olivia get together more as a result of him renting the downstairs flat in the building she owns than anything else. I spent most of the book waiting for the other shoe to drop. When it kind of did, there were only 2 or 3 pages left and not enough time for me to feel that the HEA was secure. All the time they were getting together, there was a tone to the prose which made me feel like there was sword hanging over their heads and it was going to cut deep any second. I can't say I was convinced Olivia and Alex would last and I found the ending unsatisfying. I still found Alex largely a mystery, notwithstanding he's been a major character in 2 books now (that I've read). There seemed to be too many things left unsaid and unresolved. There were some lovely passages, but the story left me wanting more (and not in a good way).

Megan Hart tackles real-world issues of race, sexuality, adoption, and religion in an open and honest manner that is quite refreshing. The single POV style means we don't get other characters' motivations, but it does mean we get to see more of the main character's personality. I would have liked Olivia to have been a touch more aware of herself as a sometimes unreliable witness, since she claims to value Alex's honesty (to the point of being perturbed when he is less than forthcoming) and yet she fails to fully acknowledge that she is hiding her own share of truth from him.I must admit to feeling a bit wary of any future this relationship actually has: their idea of conflict resolution is for Olivia to cry or rant a bit and then cave to whatever Alex wants just because he's pretty. She fully accepts that he's ready to commit to a monogamous relationship with only the barest hints that he might not have enjoyed his previous status of free-wheeling single-dom. Perhaps readers of Ms. Hart's other books know more about Alex and are ready to accept this about-face, but a nod to those of us new to her work would have been appreciated (perhaps an overheard conversation since Olivia was quite willing to eavesdrop?)

Naked by Megan Hart is a most unusual romance book. It's not like anything I've ever read, but I'm really glad I got to read it! I never knew what was going to happen next, and that's quite a surprise right there. I thoroughly enjoyed this book even though the title mislead my dirty mind (lol)! I loved the characters and the depth of the story. This book is not just about the sex, but has a nice blend of romance and erotic encounters. I don't normally read a book quite this long, but it was written very well and everything flowed together perfectly. I highly recommend Naked by Megan Hart!

I have to admit Naked is the first book I have read by Megan Hart, but I have no doubt it won't be my last. I can't believe I waited so long to read anything by Megan Hart. Naked is Alex Kennedy's book, and is part of a series. I personally didn't have any problem with reading this book and none of the others in this series. I didn't feel lost or that I was missing something big. I loved how mysterious Alex was, but I got a little tired of how he thought he was irresistible. Alex did have the ability to say the sweetest things, that will have you melting. My other complaint about Alex is that he wanted to know about Olivia but whenever she would ask about him he would close up and didn't want to talk about it. I felt that by the end of Naked that we would find out he had some deep dark secret but that never came. Naked is written in Olivia's point of view. I loved that Olivia had a strong past, she was burned by a man. She was hurt but couldn't cut the emotional strings. I loved that, it proves that sometimes letting go is the hardest thing, and hurts a lot. I loved that Olivia could be both somewhat insecure and still strong at heart. That really worked for Olivia's character. Even though she was still somewhat attached to the man who hurt her, she was able to see the potential in Alex. She wanted her chance at happiness and goes for it. Naked had some other wonderful characters. One of my favorites was Sarah, Olivia's best friend. She was hilarious, and had me laughing. She added a lighter tone to Naked that I loved.Naked focuses on some strong touchy topics, homosexuality, religion, family, and how they affect Olivia and the other characters. Megan Hart has a way to her writing, that makes you think about yourself and your life. Naked is a sexy, yet thought provoking novel.

If you ever read Tempted by Megan Hart, you know who Alex Kennedy is. This is the story of Alex and Olivia, told from Olivia's POV. I think this story has a lot more romance than some of her other erotic stories. Naked is sexy and interesting story about relationships and the personal choices that make us who we are. Olivia is a likable and complex character and Alex is drool-worthy and a little dangerous (in a sexually ambiguous way). The development of their relationship seemed real although a little rushed. I like that their relationship was as complex as they were. Getting together didn't take all their troubles away.I really enjoyed seeing some of my favorite characters from Hart's previous novels in this book. I love revisiting old friends and it took me a while to recognize Sarah. My only complaint is that is some ways Alex is still a mystery to me and I think to Olivia as well. I understand him better but their are still some holes. What exactly does he do?Overall Naked is a good, satisfying read and I recommend it to all Megan Hart fans, all erotica fans, and anyone who wants to try this genre.

I fell in love with Alex Kennedy, when he first appeared in Megan Hart’s book TEMPTED. Even though NAKED can be read as a stand alone book, I would really recommend first reading TEMPTED.From the beginning, I felt very emotionally attached to the main character, Olivia. She saw the world through the lens of her camera, and I saw her world through her eyes. A world filled with conflicts of religion, sexual orientation, and her own personal demons. All she wants is to make do, is to make a life for herself. In college, Olivia dated and became in engaged to Patrick, only to find out the secret he was hiding was the fact he was gay. Olivia was left devastated, and made mistakes of her own. She got pregnant after a hook up and gave the child up for adoption to a loving gay couple, which somewhat alienated her from super religious family members. After sometime, Olivia and Patrick decided to give friendship a try. From the first time Olivia laid eyes on Alex Kennedy, at one of Patrick’s parties, she knew she was in trouble, with his nice clothes, pretty boy looks, and hair that looked like he just rolled out of bed. Patrick, being Olivia’s best friend, felt that it’s his place to tell her to stay away from Alex, because he didn’t like girls. A fact that was soon clear, when she accidentally saw Alex in a compromising position with another guy from the party. When Olivia finds out that Alex is staying in town for a consulting job, she sees no harm in offering Alex her down stairs apartment to rent. Their proximity helped build their relationship with friendly dinners and movie nights on her couch. It didn’t take long, before one thing lead to another, and Olivia is smack dab in the middle of a relationship with a man she loves, but doesn’t really know. She questioned who she was and what she wanted out of life. She questioned who Alex was and what secrets he was hiding. She questioned whether or not she’s going would end up hurt all over again, just like she did with Patrick.I really enjoyed this book. I’ve been waiting along time for this. I loved getting another glimpse into the life of Alex Kennedy. In TEMPTED, when James describes Alex he says, “He’s like the lake…he’s deep. But he’s shallow in places, too, when you don’t expect it.” This is the Alex that Megan Hart gave to the world in TEMPTED, but in NAKED we were able to peel away some of the layers. The reader gets to see why Alex is the way he is, and why he did some of the things he did. I also really liked Olivia’s character and the world that she has built for herself. She is really a strong, amazing, giving female character. She has endured a so much in her short life, but seems to have came out the other side a better person. I liked the fact that the book, at least from my stand point, had a very original storyline. It’s like nothing I’ve ever read. Similar to several of Megan Hart’s other books, I was sucked into these characters lives, and couldn’t wait to see how it turned out. I found myself staying up way into the night reading this book, telling myself, “Just one more chapter then I can go to sleep.” I also loved seeing old favorite characters like: Elle and Dan, Sarah and Jack, and most of all Anne and James. My only issue with this book, had to be the ending. I just felt rushed, or maybe that my ebook was missing key pages or an epilogue. I think it started from the point where Alex and Olivia were visiting James and Anne, through the final confrontation between Olivia and Alex. The fight lasted as long as a fight over who forgot to empty the dishwasher. Then all was forgotten and forgiven. The End. I also felt that there were several plot points left hanging. I’m hoping this was done on purpose, as a set up to other future story lines. If you also enjoyed this peek into the world of Alex Kennedy, you should check out Megan Hart’s Spice Brief, EVERYTHING CHANGES, available July 1, 2010. It is Alex’s view on what happened in TEMPTED. I’m really excited for this one. You better believe I pre-ordered this one from Amazon.com!

I’ve been meaning to try out one of Megan’s books for a while now. I think I decided to try one when Collide came out. I just loved the cover. Then, I read some reviews of her books over at Under the Covers. They sounded delightful. Though I usually like historical romance, I do enjoy some contemporary romance every now and then. I also don’t usually read erotic romance, but I’ve found that I can enjoy those just as much when they’re well written. It’s just funny to think about the fact that a year ago I would never have picked up this book. I’ve just opened up so much to romance that I really enjoy them. They’ve become my fun reads. When I get too bogged down by YA lit or other genres, I can pick up a romance book and devour it. That is exactly what I did with this audio book. I listened to the entire thing in one day.

Olivia is a great character from the beginning, but I really enjoyed witnessing her develop. She’s so cautious. She almost never gets involved with anyone after being burned by Patrick. Yet, she keeps Patrick in her life, allowing him to hurt her over and over. Patrick isn’t ignorant to how she feels about him, and he constantly uses those feelings to manipulate her. It was such a relief when she finally stood up to him. Her relationship with her mother is strained. That was another part of development that was nice to witness. Though there will probably always be issues between Olivia and her mother, at least they began working through them a little bit. I think Alex was a big help in that department, too.

Olivia’s relationship with Alex is captivating. It was difficult for me at times because I would never be one to hold back asking questions I wanted the answers to. Olivia spends half the relationship without asking a lot of questions that she should. I know it’s hard to find the line between asking questions and prying, but I would have been pushing a little for some answers. Though Alex claims he never lied to her, sometimes withholding information is just as bad. I still have to give him credit. He does answer truthfully when she asks him questions. I do like that they’re not perfect. Both Alex and Olivia make mistakes and have to work at their relationship. It’s so obvious they want to make it work and they’re willing to do what it takes. Most of the strain comes from Olivia’s previous experience with Patrick and from Alex’s reluctance to lay out his past for Olivia to see. I have to say Alex is the one to step up in the end. He’s exactly right. Olivia can’t punish him for what someone else did to her. And no matter what he’s done in his past, what really matters is that he loves her now and that she’s the one he wants to be with.

Something Alex says in the book really stuck with me the rest of the time. He and Olivia are messing around, and he’s talking to her about control. Having control can make you feel exciting and sexy, but sometimes losing it can make you feel all the same things. Either way, there has to be trust. And I just got to thinking about how in a relationship both parties have control of each other. There’s vulnerability, and where there is vulnerability there has to be trust. It made the title make so much more sense to me. For things to work, both Alex and Olivia have to lay everything on the table. They have to strip themselves of their secrets, feel naked and vulnerable, and trust that the other person will love them for who they are and will stay true to them. That’s what I got from it anyway. There’s a lot more to it, but I don’t need to make this review any longer. I’ll just throw in that I really enjoyed Lauren Fortgang’s voice acting. I absolutely loved her voice for Alex. It can be really difficult for women to pull off good voices for men, and I think she did a great job.

Alex became instantly one of my favorite characters when I read Tempted in 2008, so I was eagerly waiting for this book. Happily I wasn’t disappointed.I give Naked a B+. I would have given it an A if only Alex presence had been less mysterious and distant. The focus of the book is Olivia, not him, sadly. [yes, I am an Alex fangirl!]Still, I liked it much better than Tempted, which was a little too bitter for me. Naked is more of a romance compared to some of Hart’s novels, but it’s still in her style. I found the ending believable and rewarding… So much better than those Disney-like fairytale romance endings that some other authors write. The writing is always remarkable, especially if compared to the average fare in contemporary romance, where it’s so hard to find authentic and distinctive writer’s voices. As to the sex scenes, I’m happy to say that I haven’t found them repetitive or unnecessary, as was the case with Deeper and Dirty.I wouldn’t suggest to read this book without having read Tempted first… But really, I would suggest anyone to buy most of Megan Hart’s novels^^
