About this ebook

Falyn Fairchild can walk away from anything. Having already left her car, her education, and even her parents, the daughter of the next governor of Colorado is back in her hometown, broke and waiting tables for the Bucksaw Café. After every shift, Falyn adds to her shoebox of cash, hoping to one day save enough to buy her a plane ticket to the only place she can find forgiveness: Eakins, Illinois.

The moment Taylor Maddox is seated in Falyn’s section at the Bucksaw, she knows he’s trouble. Taylor is charming, breaks promises, and gorgeous even when covered in filth—making him everything Falyn believes a hotshot firefighter to be. Falyn isn’t interested in becoming another statistic, and for a Maddox boy, a disinterested girl is the ultimate challenge.

Once Falyn learns where Taylor calls home, everything changes. In the end, Maddox persistence is met with Falyn’s talent for leaving, and for the first time, Taylor may be the one to get burned.

Jamie McGuire has a new book coming out in August. I started to read it, and it does involve some characters from her previous books. I have not read the Maddox brother series in several years, and found myself trying to remember more around the past reads than the current one. So, I decided to binge read the previous series! I read Beautiful Sacrifice back in December 2015, so not too long ago. I ended up remembering more about this one than I thought as all the details came back to me within the first chapter. I ended up giving this only three stars the first time I read it. I am not sure why as this was before I was leaving reviews and only star ratings every now and then. I think this was a successful re-read though, as I ended up moving this up to a 4 star. This was my least favorite of the series so far though. This one follows Taylor and starts with the information around the Hot Shots. I am happy I reached for this one again since the newest book is also following Hot Shots.Overall, another great Maddox brother read. On to the next!

This shouldn't have had a HEA. Disappointed in some of the choices made here.

Beautiful Sacrifice ruined everything for me.I absolutely adore Beautiful Disaster, along with the rest of the Maddox brothers (they are like addictions that you can’t get rid off), and I was going crazy with happiness when I got this book, Beautiful Sacrifice. But no! JAMIE MCGUIRE, HOW DARE YOU!!I was somewhat aware of the plot and what to come (thanks to the dropped hints now and there in book 2 and some of the reviews), and I’m absolutely fine with it, since I was persistently telling my brain it’s friggin’ Maddox, so it will definitely worth it. And I got what I wanted, well, in the first half anyway, until everything started to run down the hill. The book starts off pretty great, quite unoriginal actually, but great nonetheless. Falyn meets Taylor, hearts buzz, fall in love, and everything is perfect. Not quite so.Because here it comes, the part where drama rises and shines. It’s unnecessary, unrealistic, messy, and just straight out pointless. And Falyn’s reaction to everything afterward also irritated me to the point where I actually have to put the book down and do some breathing exercise just to calm myself. Because no matter how hard I think about it, anything I would do if I were her would be the total opposite!I hate the feeling that this book gave me after reading this, mainly because how disappointed I am. The drama was messy, the choices that were made in this book are unrealistic, and everything seemed pointless. Beautiful Sacrifice is a downfall of the Maddox for me.
